As part of Elevated’s mass timber erection scope for The Lighthouse project, the team installed cross-laminated timber, supported by a complex glulam framing system, which was designed to enhance the structural integrity while keeping the wood finish exposed. The team also installed 20-foot double cantilevered overhangs, which required meticulous planning, shoring, and temporary support measures. These overhangs provided outdoor seating areas and solar protection, minimizing heat gain and contributing to the project’s net-zero energy goals. XL Construction, Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. At Elevated, we recently added Stedox® Support 35 frame supports to our mass timber erection toolkit. The frame supports are lightweight and easy to extend, which added efficiency as we fine-tuned wall angles during our recent Hoover Elementary School Campus Replacement project beam installation. With this tool, Elevated completed the erection of the kindergarten and combined library & administration buildings for this project a full day ahead of schedule. We’re looking forward to continuing the use of these frame supports on future mass timber projects as a tool for continuous process improvement. Elevated is installing 15,000 s.f. of ready-frame modular systems for new TK/Kindergarten classroom buildings at five elementary schools within the Davis Joint Unified School District. The team is prefabricating the modular classroom walls to enhance production and safety. The prefabricated walls are then transported to each campus for installation, roof framing, fiber cement siding installation, and final construction.
