On 9/30, we hosted the inaugural SheSolves Awards Demo Day which was part innovation showcase and part community-building. The graduating SheSolves Awards cohort – seven teams from six Mass General Brigham institutions – all gave inspiring presentations showcasing the challenges they are addressing to make #healthcare more #userfriendly. Quick Cloud update for all of you following along. 🏅 Officially NSF Certified 💧 150K Gallons Filtered 🌎 1.2M Water Bottles Saved ☁️ 100+ 5-Star Reviews It’s crazy how much a scrappy startup can accomplish in a short period. We’ve gone from zero customers to thousands in less than a year and a half, and the biggest challenge facing the business is selling through inventory too quickly. In the last few months, we have more than doubled the size of our very happy, very hydrated, customer base. We surpassed 150K gallons of filtered water and we have saved the planet from over 1.5M plastic water bottles. On top of all that, I am super excited to announce that we recently received our official NSF certification. The certification process was long, it was arduous, and it was expensive. To be candid, I was hesitant going in. My perception was that certifications are a nice to have for companies who can afford them. As an entrepreneur, I always had some resentment towards slow-moving, costly, and bureaucratic certifications because they are often prohibitive for startups like Cloud. I must say, now that I am on the other side looking back, I couldn’t be happier with the experience and result. Water filtration is an unregulated industry full of false claims, snake oil, and confusion. NSF sets standards that allow customers to compare apples to apples. In addition, the process was way more robust than I had imagined. NSF analyzed everything from structural integrity and material safety to system performance and water quality. They even go as far as a full-scale audit of the overseas manufacturing facility. The experience changed my perception as a business leader and also set me straight as a consumer looking at hardware purchases in the future. Overall, we learned a ton, and we couldn’t be more excited about Cloud RO’s performance results. We set out to build the best water filter out there, and our NSF results confirm it is the most powerful, and most efficient system on the market. Huge thank you to Ariel Zvaifler for leading the charge and getting us OFFICIALLY certified (they literally sent us a print-friendly PDF certificate which I found really funny). We built out a page comparing Cloud’s results to other NSF-certified systems out there. We also included some helpful FAQs for anyone trying to demystify this super confusing industry.
