In today's fast-paced healthcare environment, many health systems involved in clinical research rely heavily on manual chart abstraction. Extracting data from EHRs often necessitates building and maintaining bespoke tools, continuously updating data mappings to standard terminology codes. This approach is labor-intensive and inefficient, with some attempting the harvesting of raw data without any kind of workflow. With research on FHIR, Elimu Informatics can do better. In a recent RWD and registries blog, we explored how SMART-on-FHIR apps improve data capture for registries and research by integrating with EHRs.
