This is what happiness looks like. This is what success looks like. This is not what I thought or felt like 17 years ago. 17 years ago I stood in my kitchen alone, two babies in diapers, a flailing orthodontic practice, a boatload of debt, my husband in a different state, hundreds of patients depending on me, a team of incredible women relying on me for their financial stability in their jobs… I was terrified and far from happy. In fact, I couldn’t imagine ever feeling happy again. THAT is when the guilt and shame stepped in. Here I was, a “successful” orthodontist and business owner with all the fancy stuff to show for it and I was miserable and depressed and overwhelmed. Sound familiar? You are not alone! Oh my gosh, if only I had known that when I was sobbing on my kitchen floor! These are the tools that they don’t teach you in dental school or business school. These are the tools of self-empowerment, self-confidence, self-love, self-respect. And these are the tools that were the rocket fuel I needed for my business and for my own happiness.
