Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is observed every October and it aims to raise awareness about the widespread issue of domestic violence, educate our communities on prevention, and support survivors. During this month, El Programa Hispano will be dedicated to honoring those affected by DV, promote resources, and encouraging action to end the cycle of violence. We will also host various events throughout October to bring awareness to our communities, empower individuals to stand against domestic violence, and to raise funds to continue our work. We are wrapping up this work week and National Community Schools Coordinator Appreciation Week highlighting Miguel Tandy, our SUN Site Manager at Wilkes Elementary School! Miguel was asked a funny question by a student this week “Mr. Tandy, if I do all my homework this week, do you think I’ll grow taller by Friday?”. It was such an innocent and funny question that reminded him of how they’re always making connections between what they hear and their own world. He loves to create opportunities for students to grow both inside and outside the classroom. He believes that every child deserves access to enrichment programs that support their learning and personal development, no matter their background. Being able to make a positive impact in their lives and seeing them succeed in different areas keeps is what keeps him motivated every day. #coordinatorsrock

🌟 We're still in celebration mode! Today, as part of the National Community Schools Coordinator Appreciation Week, we want to highlight the amazing Nati Santos, who is the SUN Site Manager at Highland Elementary School. Nati has been a SUN Site Manager for 3 years and her favorite grade to work with is 1st grade because they remind her to be patient, kind and positive with their big smiles and compliments. She finds inspiration to continue her work through the connections she builds with her students and their families, it warms her heart when they see her as part of their family. It is rewarding for her to know how she has made a difference in their lives by sharing resources and supporting their students in school. Thank you Nati for all you do! #CoordinatorsRock

Join us as we give our Hall Elementary SUN Site Manager, Reyna Tapia, a big round of virtual applause as we continue celebrating the National Community Schools Coordinator Appreciation Week! Reyna has been an EPHC SUN Site Manager at Hall Elementary and previously at Floyd Light Middle School for the last 2.1 years. She loves working with middle school aged kids, but she is excited to see what is like working with elementary aged children. She kindly shared her view on being a support for her students “My job is to water and nourish and nurture that seed (children) to become what it already is, and to align myself with that seed versus pushing and prodding." Thank you, Reyna, for your effort, passion and love you pour into your work. We appreciate you! . . . . #coordinatorsrock

Please join us as we continue celebrating the National Community Schools Coordinator Appreciation Week . This time we want to place the spotlight on our wonderful SUN Site Manager at Ron Russell Middle School, Mr. Anthony Zafra! Anthony has been a SUN Site Manager for 8 yrs! His favorite grade level is 6th grade because kids are very sweet as they transition into middle school, they are always looking to be involved and are funny to engage with. Antony’s love for his work springs from the connections he creates with students and their families as he helps them navigate the services our program offers to them. He enjoys seeing the growth in youth when they participate in extended day programs and the way they advocate for their SUN program. #coordinatorsrock

We kicked off the National Community Schools Coordinator Appreciation Week yesterday highlighting Sara Diaz-Anaya! Sara has been our SUN site coordinator at East Gresham Elementary School for the past 1.3 yrs. She loves working with 3rd graders as she enjoys seeing their personalities shine through during this age. By building relationships with her students and their families, she’s learned how to be more understanding, patient, and willing to see the world through their perspectives. This unique experience has made a better person and inspires her to continue the wonderful work she does! #coordinatorsrock
