Empowering youth to thrive!
About us
For more than 60 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts has worked to ensure that every child has the support from caring adults that they need for healthy development and success in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 7 through high school graduation, in communities across Massachusetts Bay. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay is to partner with under-resourced families to provide their children with transformational, one-to-one professionally-supported relationships with caring adult mentors, so that their children will thrive. Here's the proof. National research has shown that positive relationships between Littles and their Bigs have a direct and measurable impact on children’s lives. By participating in our programs, Little Brothers and Sisters are: -more confident in their schoolwork performance -able to get along better with their families -46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs -27% less likely to begin using alcohol -52% less likely to skip school. Please explore our site and learn more about our history, staff, service areas, boards and advisory committees, read our mission statement, or view current job openings.

"So many of us credit our success and accomplishments in life to someone who showed up when no one else could, someone who believed in us against the odds. Couldn’t that force be transformative in the life of a child facing an uphill battle to succeeding and thriving in their school and community?" Check out this powerful op-ed written by board member, Ravi Raju, and CEO, Mark O'Donnell, diving in to the power of mentorship and the research that proves it's significance. https://lnkd.in/eBY8sjuP
