Ambassador’s meeting with senior representatives of Pfizer: Ambassador Sridhar Khatri had a meeting at the Embassy on 4th June 2024 with senior representatives of Pfizer, a leading US global pharmaceutical company, and exchanged views on exploring opportunities for collaboration to further mutual goals in the public health sector. The two sides shared insights from experiences during the COVID period, and discussed possible collaboration on ongoing initiatives in the area of pharmaceuticals and public health. The Pfizer team consisted of Elif Aral, Vice President - Emerging Markets Access and Accord Lead; Tim Hogan, Senior Vice President - Global Policy and Public Affairs; and Catherine Robinson, Senior Director - Global Trade Policy and International Government Relations.

The Embassy participated in the Vesak Day celebrations at the White House. On May 23rd, 2024, Ambassador Sridhar Khatri joined the Vesak Day, also known as Baisakh Poornima, celebrations at the White House together with the Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Ambassadors of Buddhist countries, other dignitaries, and monks from various countries. On the occasion, the Second Gentleman lit the special lamps to commemorate Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment and Nirvana. Monks from Theravada, Vajrayana and Mahayana sect of Buddhism prayed separately for the universal peace, love and compassion. This is the second occasion the Embassy participated in the Vesak Day ceremony at the White House.

Ambassador Khatri congratulates the new batch of Peace Corps Volunteers: Ambassador Sridhar Khatri, virtually addressing the swearing-in ceremony of the new batch of Peace Corps volunteers for Nepal on 8th May 2024, congratulated the volunteers and expressed hope that after their enriching cultural and professional experiences in Nepal they would join more than 3500 former Peace Corps volunteers whom Nepal considers as its close friends and cultural goodwill ambassadors. Peace Corps Country Director for Nepal Troy Kofroth shared that the new batch of volunteers include E-learning Volunteers and Response Volunteers for the first time. The Ambassador appreciated the introduction of Response Volunteers and E-learning Volunteers. He expressed confidence that these volunteers, working together with Nepali-American IT experts and entrepreneurs, will be able to contribute significantly towards taking Nepal to a newer height in E-learning and overall IT sector development in an AI era.

The Embassy promotes Nepal in Passport DC 2024: The Embassy participated in 'Passport DC Around the World Embassy Tour 2024', an annual cultural event hosted by D.C. Events on the 4th of May 2024 at University of District of Columbia (UDC) in Washington, D.C. The Embassy thanks Himalayan Doko restaurant for offering the tastes of Nepali food, Xudu for showcasing Nepali handicraft products, and Janakpur Art and Craft Center for exhibiting Mithila paintings. We also appreciate K.C. Dance Center and America Nepal Society (ANS) for providing artists and volunteers for the event. We appreciate multiple Guiness book record holder Nepali Parkour player Dinesh Sunar for demonstrating his parkour skills while attempting a new world record. Ambassador Sridhar Khatri visited the Embassy booth and appreciated those involved in organizing the event. The Embassy thanks all visitors and participants for their time and efforts to promote Nepal's cultural and tourism attractions in the event. More than two thousand D.C. residents visited the Embassy's booth this year.

Shipment of artifacts from Maui, Hawaii to Nepal: On 2nd May 2024, the Embassy, with the sponsorship of Mr. Susan Bradford, shipped 24 pieces of lost Nepali artifacts to Nepal from Hawaii. Second Secretary Uttam Ghimire received those artifacts from Ms. Bradford in Maui, Hawaii on April 19, 2024. The Embassy thanks Ms. Bradford for her partnership and support.

Unique opportunity for Nepali business leaders - Ambassador’s meeting with Davis Albohm from Stanford Seed: Ambassador Sridhar Khatri met with Davis Albohm, Director of Global Partnerships at Stanford University’s Small-business Education and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) program and discussed about the unique opportunities offered by the Stanford SEED program for the business and leadership growth of Nepal’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). They also discussed the prospects for economic growth and job creation through empowering entrepreneurs in Nepal. Mr. Albohm shared that the application deadline for the next group of trainees is the 15th of May 2024.
