European Magnetic Field Laboratory
Research Services
The (EMFL) was founded in 2015 and provides the highest possible fields (both continuous and pulsed).
About us
The EMFL develops and operates world class high magnetic field facilities, to use them for excellent research by in-house and external users. The European Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL) was founded in 2015 and provides the highest possible fields (both continuous and pulsed) for its researchers. The EMFL is dedicated to unite, coordinate and reinforce the four existing European high magnetic field laboratories – the Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory (HLD, Germany), the Laboratoires National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI) in Grenoble and Toulouse (France), and the High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Nijmegen (HFML, The Netherlands) – within a single body as a world-leading infrastructure.

This morning Peter Christianen and Britta Redlich opened the 13th International Conference on Research in High Magnetic Fields (RHMF2024) with over 100 guest from all over the world. RHMF 2024 is a satellite conference to the International Conference on Magnetism 2024, held in Bologna last week. Over the years, RHMF has evolved into a recognized international event, devoted to the advances in research using high magnetic fields, and to the necessary magnet technology and scientific instrumentation. For this year’s edition, the programme consist of invited and contributed 45 lectures and 47 poster presentations which will give a complete overview of the most recent progress in these areas. The scope of this conference covers traditional and new topics on fundamental and applied physics and related subject areas where high magnetic fields play a crucial role. We hope that new ideas and collaborations will spring from them and everybody will enjoy your stay in Nijmegen. It was great to spend the last two days in Dresden at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) High Field Laboratory (HLD) for a progress meeting on our EU Project #SuperEMFL with partners from the European Magnetic Field Laboratory and other EU institutes. Positive discussions on high field superconducting magnet technologies for 30 and 40 Tesla. Thank you to the HLD for hosting and for nice facility tours. I saw several other “old friends” in Oxford Instruments NanoScience magnet systems including the 22 T and 19 T, 150 mm magnet systems, and it is not often you get to see a 5 GW, 50 MJ power supply (pulsed!). #superconductivity #magnet #physics #technology #emfl
