    Exciting News from Emisshield and Outokumpu! We are thrilled to announce that Outokumpu's Calvert mill has been awarded the 2024 Environmental Stewardship Award by Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP) for the second consecutive year! Outokumpu is setting a benchmark in sustainability, showcasing groundbreaking projects that prioritize energy efficiency and air quality. Their innovative use of Emisshield’s high-emissivity coating, certified by the Space Foundation, has led to a remarkable reduction of over 1,100 tons of CO₂ and energy savings of more than 6,100 megawatt-hours in just one year! Richard Chinery, Combustion Systems Manager, called our coating technology a “game changer,” enabling more efficient heat transfer and significantly reducing fuel consumption. Additionally, Outokumpu has made strides in reducing nitrogen oxide emissions in their Hot Annealing and Pickling Line, cutting raw nitric acid consumption by over 3,000 gallons per month and reducing CO₂ emissions by more than 1,400 tons. Their commitment to not just meet but exceed environmental standards demonstrates a true dedication to a greener future.
