This is my magnum opus. I started working on this story 10 MONTHS AGO. During the reporting process, I read NBA HOFer Earl Monroe’s book “Earl the Pearl: My Story,” watched award-winning filmmaker Dan Klores’ film “Black Magic” and documentary series “Basketball: A Love Story,” attended one of the business classes at Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball Charter School's temporary campus in Pelham Bay, and interviewed over the phone Earl Monroe along with several other key stakeholders. Nine interviews and 25+ emails and phone conversations with the school’s founder Dan Klores later, I am beyond thrilled to share that my latest cover story has just been published.
