When Eva’s husband unexpectedly passed away, it had a profound impact on every aspect of her life, from her family to her work. AT&T jumped into action to support Eva, offering comprehensive bereavement benefits including Empathy's practical and emotional support, a dedicated Care Manager and a personalized plan to support her through the weeks and months following her loss, and help her and her family back on their feet. “Empathy provided the pathway for a peace of mind while I could focus on our healing journey as a family.” Eva said, reflecting on her experience with Empathy. At Empathy, our goal is to change the way the world deals with loss, one family at a time. We are honored to support Eva and her family, and countless other families like hers, through whatever challenge loss may bring. Grief often leaves well-meaning people tongue-tied, unsure of what to say for fear of making things worse. With pregnancy loss, the situation becomes even more complex, with a tendency to assign blame or minimize the loss. Pointing out “nature’s wisdom” or offering “bright-side” statements often causes more harm than good. Being present and listening, without trying to fix the pain, creates a safe space for healing and connection. What words have you found comforting in times of loss? Drop a comment below.

For a while there, “quiet quitting” was on the tip of everyone’s tongue as a shorthand for disengaged, underperforming workers, but it’s not just about slacking— it’s about grieving, too. The shock of traumatic loss can be perceived as a threat by the brain, which can then shift into a survival stance to defend itself. In this powered-down mode, people can suffer from cognitive issues like brain fog, which usually manifests as confusion, anxiety, forgetfulness, and a lack of focus and mental clarity. Something has to give, and often it’s work performance. Employers that are equipped with grief training can transform a problem simply by identifying it correctly, because “quiet quitting” isn’t always what it seems. Learn more: https://hubs.la/Q02Sml-t0

Free global benefits advice from a former consultant turned account executive with the worlds first and best global LSA provider tech platform.
I am thinking of all of you, your friends and family that have been effected by Hurricane Helene. People have lost their lives. The damage is truly so, so scary. One can assume we’re not out of the woods for natural disaster in the future. Some ways employers can help your employees who need it the most: 1. Being reasonable with time off and needs surrounding this. 2. Helping to find resources for aid. 3. Creating a GoFund me for employees and their families and do a match. 4. Offering a disaster relief LSA account like Forma’s example here. 5. Offering bereavement policies that offer more than 3-5 days and support for funerals, planning, etc. (like Empathy) Take your time. Repair, rebuild. Your communities are there for you.
