🚀 Today we’re announcing our integration of Mobilise-D's digital mobility outcomes into the Empatica Health Monitoring Platform, providing 25 new validated measures for COPD, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, hip fracture recovery, and congestive heart failure. This peer-reviewed journal paper aimed to assess the accuracy of a #DigitalBiomarker available as part of the Empatica Health Monitoring Platform. ⌚ In this study, Empatica colleagues prospectively validated the accuracy of oxygen saturation measurements performed by the EmbracePlus wristband during a controlled hypoxia protocol. ✅ The analyzed population included 30% of participants with skin pigmentation V–VI on the Fitzpatrick scale, with clinically acceptable performance found in all skin subgroups. 💤 Sleep is a common problem for patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Breathing techniques are used in PTSD treatment to promote relaxation and reduce hyperarousal. But the effectiveness of a breath robot, simulating human breathing to help reduce stress, has not been tested. The aim of Annett Lotzin & Isabelle Laskowsky’s study is to investigate the feasibility of a breath robot to reduce sleep problems in patients with PTSD. The approach: ⌚ Participants are instructed to wear EmbracePlus day and night for 4 weeks to record the digital biomarker data. 💻 Changes in electrodermal activity, pulse rate, respiratory rate, peripheral skin temperature, movement intensity, and sleep are continuously assessed. 🛏️ In this study there will be two groups. One will receive the breath robot with the breathing functionality, and the second is a control group that will receive a robot without this functionality. We’re pleased to share that our technology has been chosen for the INSIGHT study, a project from The Geneva Foundation, a nonprofit organization that facilitates innovative research for the Department of Defense community, and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. ⌚ The INSIGHT study aims to enhance sleep quality and combat sleep disorders in service members and veterans, using EmbracePlus to track sleep and electrodermal activity of study participants. 📈 The autonomic activity of the participants will be measured in individuals with insomnia and traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress, and in healthy individuals. The unique set of sensors of the EmbracePlus will help characterize sympathetic and parasympathetic hyperactivity in the study population. 💤 The FDA-cleared Empatica Health Monitoring Platform will be used to monitor sleep quality and provide comprehensive, sleep-related physiological insights. We recently attended the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Conference and Family Reunion in Boston, USA.
