In a new open letter, EmpiRx Health CEO Danny S. addresses the bipartisan election year issue of skyrocketing drug costs. The PBM industry was founded more than a half-century ago to help manage these costs, but it has not exactly worked out that way. As legislators and regulators increasingly criticize the traditional volume-driven PBM operating model, there’s a growing drumbeat around PBM “transparency” as the solution to the massive problem of rising drug costs. But, as Sanchez notes in his open letter, “transparency is just one step” in the vital push for PBM reform.     What’s really needed is the broader adoption of a clinically-driven approach to pharmacy care that puts the pharmacist back in pharmacy benefits management. Want to learn more about the clinically-driven PBM reform revolution? Read the entire open letter here: https://lnkd.in/eAAKtpJR #OpenLetter #PBM #Legislators #ClinicallyDriven

EmpiRx Health is thrilled to have participated in another Northeast AMCP Day of Education! Congratulations to all the panelists (including our EVP and Chief Pharmacy Officer, Polina Kogan, RPh, PharmD) for a series of enlightening and informative educational sessions.   Unable to attend the event? We’d love to share more with you about how EmpiRx Health’s clinically-driven, customer-first PBM approach is transforming pharmacy care to substantially reduce prescription drug costs for benefits plan sponsors while measurably improving patient health outcomes. As Polina discussed during the AMCP event, PBMs and managed care shouldn't be afraid to utilize AI and digital solutions to enhance patient care and pinpoint where pharmacists' attention is needed most. EmpiRx Health believes that the PBM industry needs to shift from its traditional volume- and rebate-driven operating model to a clinically-driven approach that puts the pharmacist back in pharmacy benefits management. Let’s talk: https://lnkd.in/efV3rUwd #AMCP #DayofEducation #Event #PBM

The traditional PBM model is rooted in the flawed assumption that higher drug volumes equate to higher rebates and greater “savings” for plan sponsors. The reality is those inflated rebate levels, coupled with poor clinical management, actually increase drug costs without any real improvements in patient health outcomes.   At EmpiRx Health, our clinically-driven pharmacy care model is proven to measurably improve patient health and well-being, while slashing prescription drug spending for plan sponsors and lowering per-member/per-month costs. Join our exclusive webinar, “The PMPM Trend is Now Your Friend,” on Oct 24th at 11am EST and learn how you can transform your pharmacy benefits plan with a pharmacy care partner that puts the pharmacist at the center of the PBM model.
