The #datacenter boom is transforming the landscape of cities across the US, and Atlanta is emerging as a key player in this growing industry. This article shared by Government Technology tracks the recent surge in data center construction there, as well as the investment opportunities, policy framework, and power demands associated with a rapidly growing #digitalinfrastructure. As Allan Schurr, PE points out in the article, data centers are becoming exponentially larger and more power-hungry, and our flexible, scalable natural gas #microgrids play a critical role in meeting the demand for electricity and ensuring resilience. It's an informative read that covers all the variables related to new data center construction, so check it out 👉 https://bit.ly/3zWMSXw #datacenterflexibility #powergeneration #cleanenergy #generators

We’re thrilled to announce that Entergy and Enchanted Rock received the 2024 Edison Pioneers Award for collaboration across organizations at this year’s Public Utilities Fortnightly Top Innovators Conference. The event highlights partnerships and technological breakthroughs that advance the #utility industry and ultimately benefit customers through safer, cleaner, more affordable service. We’re proud of the work we’ve done to support Entergy’s Power Through program, which ensures backup power for individual customers and more capacity for the greater grid in Mississippi and Louisiana. By utilizing our natural gas #microgrids, a single asset can perform both reliability and grid support services duties, providing shared savings to the host customer and the rate base. Our own Jim Barbour joined Frank Magee, Ross Thistlethwaite, MME, PMP, Darrin McCorvey, Lesley Kubelka, and Chris Gilliland from the Entergy team to accept the award (not pictured but integral to the program: Hannah Kaplan (Hernandez), Adam Jones, Adam Kay, and Chris Cahal). Congrats to both organizations, and we look forward to providing electrical #resiliency services for Entergy and their customers. This week, Allan Schurr, PE testified during a state legislative (#TXLege) session focused on the power crunch that Texas is experiencing from #datacenter growth. Naureen S. Malik provided an excellent recap in her Bloomberg article, and you can check out both the article and Allan’s perspective on the issue in his post below. #datacenterflexibility #microgrids #generators #powergeneration
Texas is ready for an energy revolution. Great article by Naureen S. Malik from Bloomberg highlighting the large load dilemma that exists in Texas. As I noted in my testimony at the #TXLege session earlier this week, the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) strong suggestion for #datacenters to build on-site #powergeneration offers a significant opportunity for the state's energy grid and broader economic development. Traditionally seen as liabilities, large energy loads can become grid assets by providing clean, dispatchable power. This shift would allow ERCOT to better integrate load flexibility into real-time operations and planning, improving grid stability. On-site generation is not new. Critical infrastructure already uses diesel backup generation, though these have several limitations. Fortunately, sustainable alternatives can both replace diesel backup and provide grid services while earning revenue in exchange. Beyond cost savings, on-site generation improves local air quality and expedites interconnections by avoiding costly transmission upgrades. This approach optimizes existing infrastructure, reduces overbuilding risks, and enhances grid efficiency, lowering energy costs for all consumers. Texas legislators should direct PUCT and ERCOT to develop market rules that incentivize on-site generation without subsidies. The need is apparent, and the solution is proven in commercial operation – right here in Texas.

We are thrilled to be in Las Vegas next week for the Yotta 2024 Conference. #Datacenters are at the heart of our #digitalinfrastructure, but power gridlock is becoming a critical challenge that limits growth. By 2028, power demand is expected to double, and that will put even more pressure on #utilities and the large-load customers they serve. But there are viable solutions. Thomas McAndrew, Pete DiSanto, and Hannah Harrer will be on hand to discuss #powergeneration strategies that deliver #datacenterflexibility and how Enchanted Rock can help bridge any electrical gaps at your site. 🗓️ Schedule time with our team members here: https://lnkd.in/g2Gd5ign We’ll see you there! #yotta2024 #ResilientInfrastructure #microgrid #bridgetobackup #energytransition

A lot of us are still feeling the heat, but colder temps will be here before we know it. And while summertime brings its own unique challenges when it comes to power reliability, extreme cold can be just as precarious when keeping your operations up and running. In his latest Insights article, James Kelly looks at fuel performance during previous winter storms and explains the benefits of using natural gas versus diesel fuel for backup #powergeneration when the mercury drops. Give it a read and learn why you should make natural gas #generators part of your #resiliency strategy 👉 https://bit.ly/3TNhFNb #microgrids #cleanenergy #DER
