📢 Just Announced: Meta Pledges $35M for Carbon Removal Projects with the Department of Energy 🌎 This announcement is a direct response to the Voluntary Carbon Dioxide Removal Purchasing Challenge presented by DOE, which calls for companies to help catalyze carbon removal at gigaton scales in the coming decades. 📋 Meta is pledging to contract at least $35M for carbon removal projects in the coming year as part of its goal to achieve net zero emissions across Meta's value chain in 2030. 🗨️ "We hope our pledge will encourage others to make similar pledges, ultimately helping to scale the market and reduce the cost of carbon removal technologies," according to Meta's press release: https://lnkd.in/eKW34T3G 💰 The pledge matches DOE’s own commitment to advance technologies that remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere.

On this #NationalHydrogenDay (and everyday), we recognize clean hydrogen as a powerful and versatile tool to help decarbonize our economy, revitalize manufacturing, create jobs, and help build a clean, equitable, and sustainable energy future for all Americans. At the Department of Energy, we’re working alongside the other federal agencies through Hydrogen Interagency Workforce (HIT) to make sure communities and working families are the main beneficiaries in an energy transition with clean hydrogen. Part of this work involves making objective and science-backed resources publicly available so you can understand and make decisions about your energy future. Today in the spirit of celebrating hydrogen’s atomic weight of 1.008, we are proud to highlight HIT two hot-of-the-press resources to increase understanding about clean hydrogen and its opportunities and challenges. Check them out at the link below and don’t forget to get in your 1.008 mile #H2DayWalk before the day is over.
