Engage Estero is an all-volunteer, nonprofit community engagement association. We could not do what we do without our volunteers! Mike Wasson, a member of our Board of Directors and Communications Committee, shared why he donates his time and talents to Engage Estero: "Volunteering with Engage Estero is a way to give back to my community and fellow human beings. My work in education - especially Junior Achievement with students - working on the Communication Committee to share important information is helpful to others and gives meaning to my life." Volunteer opportunities are always available. To find something that matches your skills and interests, please visit: https://lnkd.in/djqCmAd4

As we honor our organization’s 25th anniversary, it’s important to look at where we came from. In 2000, Estero was a “blank slate,” with no governmental organization, and just 9,500 permanent residents and 5,500 seasonal residents. That same year, the first iteration of what would become Engage Estero – the Estero Concerned Citizens Organization – was formed with support from Lee County Commissioner Ray Judah. This led to a more organized community plan, including a vision for the future look and culture of our community. Continue to follow Engage Estero as we recount how the organization came to be and how we will focus on the future as we enter our next 25 years.
