Most of the time, you’ll get great results even as a beginner. You've seen it in action, but how do you turn this into a real business application? Asking a chatbot some questions has become wonderfully easy, but making a scalable genAI-powered application that drives results for your business is much, much more difficult. To achieve that, you need to connect your prompt to relevant data and, if needed, integrate external systems and services that provide additional functionality. Then, expose that functionality on your website or application. You have to do all of this while managing data privacy and protecting your proprietary, competitive information. The frequent updates and revisions to these codes add another layer of difficulty, necessitating continuous education and adaptation to ensure compliance and avoid costly delays or penalties. Generative AI (genAI) can streamline this process, driving operational efficiency, lowering costs, and improving the quality and safety of a wide range of construction projects. In one use case, genAI can streamline the construction permitting process by automatically checking building designs against local building codes. For example, a construction firm submits a digital blueprint of a proposed building. The AI analyzes the design, compares it with relevant regulations, and highlights any code violations or compliance issues. This rapid, automated review reduces the time and effort required for manual checks, ensuring faster permit approvals and fewer costly revisions. In another use case, genAI can assist in generating and optimizing construction schedules that comply with local noise ordinances and work hour restrictions. For instance, a construction company inputs their project timeline and constraints into the AI system. The AI then produces a detailed schedule that maximizes productivity while adhering to local noise regulations and permissible work hours. This ensures compliance with local laws, minimizes the risk of fines, and improves community relations by reducing disturbances. Given the current state of the capabilities of generative AI, it would be premature to rely on these solutions in an unsupervised, fully automatic fashion. However, genAI can significantly reduce the labor-intensive and resource-hungry early first stages and drafts of such projects to free up your people to work on higher value tasks that only they can do. This works well where the dataset is fairly static and search-and-retrieval is simple. But what if you are dealing with thousands of SKUs, documents, or items? What if items are constantly added/removed? What if these items are in emerging fields? Location: "123 Main Street, Anytown, USA" Proposed Construction Type: "Interior remodeling" 𝗔𝗜 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Project Type: Residential Construction Type: Interior Remodeling Location: 123 Main Street, Anytown, USA Estimated Cost: $50,000 Proposed Timeline: 3 months Of course, both of these examples could be done manually. But will that scale? Could those resources, people, and money be better spent elsewhere?   The categorization and tagging process can be confined to your internal systems to make them more intelligent, efficient, and provide better reporting for business intelligence.
