📢 Today, the fifth circuit court of appeals heard arguments regarding the legality of the DACA program. The stakes of this case are high and will impact the lives of thousands of people, including innovators, and their ability to live and work in the U.S. Immigrants, among them DACA recipients, are drivers of innovation, contributing incalculable benefits to the startup ecosystem. Congress must act to ensure Dreamers can permanently live and work in the U.S. Without action, we risk the strength of our innovation ecosystem.

🇺🇸 Founders: Tax policy impacts startup growth. I love the work that Engine | Advocacy & Foundation does to help me stay aware of issues and helps me advocate for policies that matter. As Congress prepares to undertake tax reform in 2025, it is critical that startup voices are heard. That’s why I’ve signed on to urge lawmakers to pass a tax package that includes policies that lower barriers to innovation, incentivize investment, and enable hiring and startup growth. If you're a fellow founder, I encourage you to join me in signing this letter to Congress by October 14. Link: https://lnkd.in/gM5m-GDX

Thank you to Senator Tim Scott for your leadership in introducing the Empowering Main Street in America Act (EMSAA). EMSAA will bolster the private markets and private capital —the economic and innovation engine of the U.S. This legislation is the type of game-changer for the U.S. innovation ecosystem that Carta has been advocating for – the type of change that will help level the playing field for underrepresented founders and small fund investors. We appreciate Senator Tim Scott’s leadership, the bills cosponsors, and the incredible staff who helped make this possible. I am also grateful for the dedication of my Carta colleague, Holli Heiles Pandol, who has been a driving force in generating industry support for this critical legislation. Thank you also for the partners we are fortunate to have worked with throughout this effort -- Pat Gouhin, Angel Capital Association; John Dearie, Center for American Entrepreneurship; Jennifer W., Engine; Penny Lee, Financial Technology Association; Lindsay Ries, Technology Councils of North America (TECNA). See our coalition letter in the comments. Kudos to Senator Scott and his team for their leadership on this issue. Looking forward to working to support this effort and make this bill a reality for the benefit of the innovation ecosystem. #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #CapitalMarkets #VentureCapital #Startups

Usually you’re supposed to be upset when your head gets cut out of a photo… But I’m thrilled, because this morning Olivia Walch, CEO and Founder of the startup Arcascope, testified before the House Ways and Means Trade subcommittee about how digital trade impacts her business! In her testimony, Olivia highlighted how U.S. leadership on digital trade is critical for the growth and global success of #startups like hers. Startups need cross border data flows and low barriers to trade to reach new markets and succeed. Let’s hope policymakers in Congress and the administration hear Olivia’s call for leadership on these key issues!
