It was a pleasure to announce Biomedical College’s National accolade, The David Dewhurst Award is to be presented to fellow Queenslander, Dr. Lloyd Walker, at Engineers Australia Queensland Excellence Awards. Dr Walker's groundbreaking work in biomedical and rehabilitation engineering has revolutionised the field. His dedication to advancing disability services and assistive technologies has had a profound impact on countless lives. I particularly enjoyed Lloyd’s speech where he took the opportunity to highlight the incredible work of local rehabilitation engineering efforts to an audience that would not typically appreciate the very meaningful impact that Biomedical Engineers have on society. Lloyd’s advocacy for our profession is one of the attributes he is known and recognised for.
