Marvel Entertainment The Walt Disney Company Maximum Effort "Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to draw about 13.6 million moviegoers this weekend, about 73% of weekend foot traffic. EntTelligence’s Chief Strategy Officer Steve Buck noted that the last time a film drew 13 million within three days was Warner Bros’ Discovery’s Barbie, with 13.1 million during its July 2023 opening. Only Marvel and Disney’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with 13.8 million, and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, with more than 20 million, have attracted more people postpandemic, he said. The audience was about 60% male/40% female, with 28% of patrons between ages 26 and 25; another 23% between 35 and 45; and 21% between 18 and 25, EntTelligence reported. Twenty-eight percent of the audiences paid for premium tickets averaging $18.38, and 17% saw the film in 3-D." https://lnkd.in/g2KbYsfh

🍿 There's a reason why Hollywood relies so heavily on sequels — it shows them the money. 🎬 Out of the top 60 box office films since 2016 (excluding 2020, as most theaters were shut down due to the pandemic) just five can be classified as true original titles, with sequels driving the bulk of the industry's highest-grossing films.
