We are excited to announce the recent research publication by Liz Koutsos, PhD, and Daniel Adams, PhD, in the Journal of Applied Poultry Research, titled "Black Soldier Fly Larvae Frass is an Effective Feed Ingredient for Broiler Diets." This study reveals that frass, a by-product of black soldier fly larvae, is a highly nutritious and sustainable superfood for broilers. Their key findings include: ⚪ Nutritional Value: Frass is rich in essential nutrients, supporting optimal broiler growth and health. ⚪ High Availability: Frass can be produced at scale, making it readily available for the poultry industry. ⚪ Affordability: Frass is an affordable option for commercial poultry producers without compromising performance. With broilers fed diets containing up to 10% frass performing just as well as those on traditional plant-based diets, this research offers a promising pathway toward sustainable and cost-effective poultry production. We're thrilled to share that Dr. Bruce Downie invited us to the University of Kentucky to lead a discussion with a graduate-level Integrated Plant & Soil Sciences class on the future of insect agriculture! Our topic? Entomophagy: Academic Exercise or Growing Reality?   During our session, we highlighted the need for insect agriculture and showcased its real-world applications. We also discussed insects' incredible potential as a sustainable feed ingredient and what EnviroFlight is doing to grow this industry.    It was inspiring to engage with the students as they explored the potential of entomophagy beyond the classroom.
