Each year, EFO has their Annual Awards Luncheon and recognizes two awards: Frank Condon Award of Environmental Excellent ONEOK and the James R Barnett Public Servant Award and Saba Tahmassebi. Both ONEOK and Saba definitely deserved the awards and more that were given this year. The ONEOK project served as a demonstration of how a company can go the extra mile to reduce their methane emissions and reduce the #GHG emissions. It took a huge amount of capital, both financially and human, to make this project happen. Saba was a long term industry friend and ally when he worked at the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality Now he is at US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Laboratory in Ada, OK, spearheading new initiatives to be based on the science and still being a friend to industry, which EFO greatly appreciates. He challenges us to do better for the environment and 7 generations forward (nod to Sydnee Krenek, Cherokee Tribe and James Williams, Muscogee Creek Tribe for the reminder). Congratulations to both for their contributions to improving the lives of Oklahomans and the environment.
