Do you know where your drinking water comes from? If you live in the Twin Cities, this photo may be a hint! Globally, drinking water comes from many sources, including rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs, and groundwater, and the Safe Drinking Water Act mandates that we protect them all. This ensures cleaner, safer conditions for everyone. Help #ProtecttheSource by liking, reposting, and spreading the word about the importance of safeguarding our water. #SDWA50 #SourceWaterProtectionWeek

Greetings LinkedIn community- I forgot to post my first day of school photo, here is Day 2. ASK: For the Environmental Management: Systems and Strategy class I am teaching this fall, what is one book, concept or nugget of information you wish someone would have told you about as an undergrad, does not need to be environmental or sustainability focused. Please reply so that the students understand the importance of differing viewpoints, global reach and how to ask for help with big questions. #ESG #Sustainability University of Minnesota CFANS | U of M College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management

Even though Minnesota meets federal air quality standards, a recent study from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency showed that air pollution still played a role in 10% of deaths in the Twin Cities. When we breathe, pollutants are able to enter our lungs and bloodstream. This can cause or exacerbate health problems, and increases the risk of respiratory infections, heart disease, stroke and lung cancer, especially for children, the elderly, BIPOC communities, and uninsured residents. On Sept. 7, International Day of Clean Air highlights how we need to work together to keep our air healthy. Environmental Initiative administers several programs, including Clean Air Minnesota, Project Clean Air Repair (CAR), Project Green Fleet, and Project Stove Swap, which all work to reduce emissions in different ways. Ready to get involved? Visit linktr.ee/envinitiative to learn more about our air projects, sign up for our newsletter, or donate to keep this important work going. #CleanAirNow #AirPollution

Did you know there will be a statewide question on Minnesota’s ballot this November? Over 30 years ago, Minnesotans voted to dedicate a portion of state lottery proceeds to conservation. Since then, it’s provided over $1 billion for our great outdoors. To ensure this critical funding source remains dedicated for the great outdoors, over 50% of voters must vote “YES.” If most Minnesotans vote yes, lottery proceeds for the environment will continue until 2050. A 1.5% increase in the fund will establish a community grants program to support conservation investments in underserved organizations and communities. Environmental Initiative is part of a coalition of BIPOC leaders and mainstream environmental organizations with a shared desire for lottery proceeds to continue and for grants to be more accessible to all Minnesotans. Rachel Geissinger, Tonya Draughn, Michael Harley and Emily (Franklin) Haley stopped by the Minnesotans For Our Great Outdoors kick-off event today in West Saint Paul alongside other coalition members.
