  • 🌧️ Post-Hurricane Mold Prevention Tips 🌧️ As autumn brings heavier rains and the aftermath of recent hurricanes, many of us are sealing our homes tightly to stay warm. But did you know that closing up windows and doors can trap moisture, leading to mold and mildew growth? Mold thrives in damp spaces, and exposure can trigger health issues like coughing, sneezing, wheezing and even lung infections. People with asthma, allergies or compromised immune systems are at the greatest risk. Prevention tips: 💧 Reduce moisture in your home with dehumidifiers or fans. 💧 Fix leaks immediately. 💧 Monitor your home’s humidity levels—aim for 30-50%. 💧 Use EPA-approved cleaners for mold and minimize bleach. For homes impacted by the hurricane, professional mold remediation might be necessary to keep your space safe and mold-free. Read more: https://ewg.life/3YpXSpL #MoldPrevention #HurricaneSeason #EWG

  • Hurricane Helene drenched 1,021 poultry barns in Western North Carolina, housing nearly 21.6 million birds, raising concerns about the contamination of private drinking water wells. With over 20 inches of rain in some areas, poultry manure loaded with harmful substances like E. coli and ammonia is at risk of polluting our water supply. About 2.4 million North Carolinians rely on private wells for drinking water. The state Department of Health recommends testing water for bacteria after flooding, especially near animal farms. It's time for North Carolina to prioritize public health and address the dangers posed by concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). • October 12 is National Farmer's Day, and a time to celebrate the dedication and hard work of farmers like Charlene Tenbrink, who pour their heart and soul into feeding our communities. But the truth is, they face grave risks every day - especially from dangerous chemicals like paraquat. After years of spraying this toxic herbicide, Charlene was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, an illness linked to paraquat exposure. Farmers shouldn’t have to choose between their livelihood and their health. We need to protect the very people who feed us by banning paraquat. This National Farmers Day, let’s show our appreciation by taking action. Visit the link in our bio or banparaquat.org to sign the petition and stand with farmers and farmworkers who deserve a healthy future.

  • A new investigation from The New Lede reveals shocking misuse of taxpayer dollars to promote dangerous pesticides like paraquat. A PR firm led by a former Monsanto exec has been using U.S. taxpayer funds to downplay the risks of toxic pesticides worldwide, including paraquat - a chemical linked to Parkinson’s. The campaign includes a database used to target and attack over 500 scientists, environmentalists, and organizations that raise concerns about the health and environmental harms from pesticide use. With paraquat banned in over 70 countries but still legal in the U.S., it's clear we need stronger protections for public health and the environment.
