When we acquired the Loggerhead Marina portfolio, our responsibility to the planet grew significantly. With 23 marinas and 6,800 slips, our management practices directly affect the well being of the surrounding wildlife and habitat. Here are just a few of the ways we are committed to marine life conservation and health: 🐢Our conservation partnership with the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a unique opportunity for Loggerhead to promote ocean conservation efforts to residents and guests throughout the ELS network. ♻️ The Monofilament Recovery and Recycling Program is designed to reduce environmental damage from fishing lines. ⚓ With the Clean Marina Designation, participating marinas are dedicated to best management practices that address sensitive habitats, waste management, spill prevention and emergency preparedness. Last week, we marked National Intern Day with a bang across various regions! Our interns dived into the festivities with donut-eating contests, egg races, and even a round at Top Golf.🎉 A big shoutout to the departments that embraced the internship program this summer—your support made it all possible. But most importantly, a heartfelt thank you to our interns. Your creativity, teamwork, and vibrant energy have truly shone through. We’re grateful to have you as part of the ELS family!

We are delighted to share the success of our first-ever Intern Knowledge Exchange Day with Equity Residential! ELS interns had an incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and exchange ideas with their counterparts at Equity Residential. It was a day filled with insightful discussions, valuable networking, and a competitive game of “The Price is Right”. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success and stay tuned as we continue this tradition!

On June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas to let enslaved African Americans know they were free, through General Order No 3.     In 1980, Texas was the first state to declare Juneteenth a holiday and on June 18, 2021, President Biden signed a bill establishing Juneteenth National Independence Day as a federal holiday.   This week, in recognition of Juneteenth, our Diversity Council shared a message with our team members including suggested readings that tell the stories of African American history and resilience, as well as spotlights on several African American artists. We also shared a microlearning with team members celebrating Opal Lee, the “grandmother of Juneteenth”, who through activism and campaigning was the catalyst that made Juneteenth a federal holiday. Sharing stories like Opal’s is just one way we can celebrate, remember, and recognize members of Black and African American communities.

The 2024 ELS Intern Program has begun…this time with cookies! 🍪 All the interns and managers joined in for some friendly competition to decorate the best camping cookie to celebrate the 55th anniversary of #100daysofcamping 🏕️ We are ready for the countless creative ideas this summer will bring and for our interns to be a part of the ELS family! 🎉 Let us know which cookie you would want on your next camping trip!

Our Holiday Season was a Merry one! With Gingerbread Houses, Ugly Sweaters, and Foster Angel Gifts, our ELS offices participated in all things festive! We are excited to close out such a great year and even more thrilled to take on 2024. From the ELS family to yours, Happy New Year!
