Kudos to Earth Resources Technology (ERT)'s latest #employeeofthemonth, Zoe Clark! Zoe joined ERT in 2021 as a System Administrator supporting the NOAA Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO). This summer, she took on a new role on the GOES-R Help Desk team, helping to move the team from a customer service-oriented support group to a customer technical support service group. She has been instrumental in getting necessary systems in place to make the team run more efficiently, and her dedication and commitment to supporting her customers and the team have been exceptional. Way to go, Zoe!

Matthew Isaiah Seal - one of Earth Resources Technology (ERT)’s newest Fisheries Biologists supporting NOAA’s Southeast Fisheries Science Center in Pascagoula, Mississippi - has been having way more fun than you are supposed to have at work! Matthew works aboard the R/V Oregon II during SEAMAP (Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program). Each year, researchers travel throughout the Gulf of Mexico, from Brownsville, Texas to the Florida Keys, conducting trawl surveys. The data from these surveys provides a clear picture of the types and quantity of the fish and invertebrates in those areas and is used by scientists all over the country. The pictures below of Matthew on a recent trip around the Florida Keys speak for themselves, but he had this to say about his new position at ERT: "One of my favorite things about my new job at ERT is that I know the data we’re collecting is important. I know that the work I do is making a difference for every species in the Gulf of Mexico. I spent the last 5 years teaching high school science, so I was inside most of the last four years. However, one of my favorite quotes is, "Not all classrooms have four walls." With 12 years of research and scientific data gathering experience, with my new job at ERT, I am still learning something new every day, and I get to be outside, in the elements, in nature that I love so much, while I learn!" We're happy to have you on the ERT team, Matthew, and are glad you are loving your new job!
