Enhanced Oil Recovery And Wettability Alteration Experts. Extract an additional 5-15% more of the original oil in place.

About us

ESal, LLC was founded in 2014 and is the world's leader in the understanding of reservoir wettability optimization. ESal’s mission is to increase oil recovery for oil producers and investors by engineering salinity to alter wettability using our patented process. This process is predicated on proprietary screening algorithms, laboratory experiments, and computer modeling. We have a unique ability to identify which fields are excellent candidates from standard petroleum data and then use our laboratory to measure and determine the salinity that creates optimum wettability for each reservoir. The patented ESal process improves wettability and increases recovery by changing the injection water salinity to increase recovery without adding chemicals. This is achieved by changing completion fluid salinity in unconventional wells and blending the produced water with surface or other ground water in conventional waterfloods thereby resulting in increased recovery by 5 to 15% OOIP at a savings of 50-70% to our customers.

  • Which Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method can recover up to 25% of Original Oil In Place (OOIP)? As part of our EOR Methods Head-To-Head, we evaluated four methods to see which ones were most likely to meet a threshold of 25% OOIP. Beyond that, we also wanted to factor in the expense required to meet the OOIP goal, keeping an eye on the profitability and increased longevity of existing wells. In numerous tests, ESal has proven able to reach 25% OOIP, achieving up to 50% OOIP total recovery. No investing in new equipment to reach that goal is required.   To check out the results in greater detail, view our new article that puts all EOR methods head-to-head in eight different categories. #enhancedoilrecovery #oilrecovery #oilandgasindustry #oilfieldofthefuture https://lnkd.in/gFKx3hpF

  • ESal was honored to have our own Geoffrey Thyne speaking at the Produced Water Society's Permian Basin Conference yesterday! As part of an illustrious set of industry experts, Geoff spoke on designing for improved wettability, a subject that's very near and dear to our hearts. People are asking us about how to get to a state of neutral wettability and being able to predict if and when that happens with pinpoint accuracy. It's no wonder they do, since reaching that "sweet spot" has incredible implications for potential profitability, efficiency and environmental impact. We're at PWS' Conference today as well and look forward to conversations with some of you in attendance. So if you're here, let us know and let's grab some time together! #ProducedWaterSociety #PermianBasinConference2024 #ProducedWaterManagement

There's an ideal place to recover the most oil. It doesn't require drilling new wells. It doesn't require any chemicals either. It requires the proprietary method of enhanced oil recovery that ESal has mastered to consistently help companies obtain so much more in the field. Discovering if it applies to you is easier and more cost-effective than practically any field test you'll ever find. How much is knowing the future and full potential of a well worth to you? And to your closest competitor? Enough for a phone call to find out. #neutralwettability #oilandgasindustry #oilrecovery #enhancedoilrecovery

  • You can spend a lot of years and a lot of money until, one day, you finally discover whether or not a well is profitable (and by how much). Or you can find that out a whole lot closer to the present day with Engineered Salinity. How so? Using our proprietary methodology, ESal can identify the "sweet spot" of neutral wettability - that golden zone that tells you how much more oil you can recover over time from the well right where you stand. We've told companies how profitable they'll be. We've also told them how much they'll lose. And in every case, they value the fact that our projections on the degree of recovery offer a level of pinpoint accuracy that has no equal. Don't keep drilling new wells before you know precisely what's coming to you. Put ESal in your immediate future today. #oilandgasindustry #oilrecovery #oilandgas #enhancedoilrecovery

  • We’re in a business all about drilling new wells. But before you break new ground, answer this: Can you definitively say exactly how much oil those new wells will give you? Probably not. Yet, with a screen test from Engineered Salinity, you can know how much more oil you can get out of your existing well. That's not all. Depending on your state, you may not need to pay anywhere near as much severance tax on the oil produced by us either. Ah, the benefits of working with an EOR. Any questions? Good. Let's talk about them. Call ESal today at 307.760.9421. #oilandgasindustry #oilfieldofthefuture #oilrecovery #TaxCredits

  • A Treasure Map For Oil It sounds like a dream, but the Engineered Salinity screening tool projects your best chance of recovery like nothing else in the marketplace today. How do we do it? First, our screening tool takes four essential elements into consideration for measurement and scoring: Rock. Water. The field. Oil. Next, check out this map that covers older fields that produce oil from the Queen sandstone. Any field in green is one that conveys an excellent chance that our process at ESal from Screening to Lab Work to Deployment will work very well. It's not a promise but a genuinely scientific approach to defining the degree of profitability and recovery success – not someday, but right here, right now. Sure beats spending tens of millions of dollars on traditional E&P to find that out 4-6 years from now, doesn’t it? To see where your field falls on the Oilfield Treasure Map, talk to our team at Engineered Salinity to arrange a screening today at 307.760.9421. #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #oilfieldservices

  • What's the potential of ESal's technology on U.S. oil production? Fasten your seat belts. The projections we're about to throw at you are nothing short of astonishing. First, some context: The Permian basin, home to the top US oil-producing shale, has produced slightly more than 10 billion barrels to date. In the graph below, an increase in additional recovery of just 5% of Original Oil In Place(OOIP) would produce about 21.7 billion barrels over the next 22 years (blue bars). Exciting? You bet. Now TRIPLE that rate of recovery and production. That's the expected upper bound of ESal recovery at 15%, which would produce 64.8 billion barrels (orange bars). The value of this resource, assuming $50/bbl, would be $1.08 trillion and $3.24 trillion (black lines), respectively from existing U.S. conventional resources. Now that you know these numbers, let's find an open date on your calendar to talk about ESal's unique EOR method and if your reservoir is a good candidate. #EOR #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #oilrecovery #oilfieldofthefuture

  • Engineered Salinity’s patented approach calls for re-using large amounts of produced water in an existing well, meeting a high level of social and ethical responsibility that’s challenging for other EORs to speak to as strongly. So if you'd like to avoid a massive uphill climb to be considered ESG sensitive, it's time we had a conversation about why ESal is better for the environment AND better for your bottom line. Win-win. #oilandgasindustry #oilandgas #oilandgascompanies #oilfieldofthefuture
