As part of the ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council's 2024 Festival of Social Science at the University of Surrey, we recently hosted a sustainability-focused event at the Centre for Britain and Europe. The event showcased Surrey-based climate and sustainability experts including Zero Carbon Guildford, Surrey Climate Commission, Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES), ACCESS Network, Institute for Sustainability. Focusing on how displaced writers integrate themselves into unfamiliar surroundings and societies, the material presented will be both historical and contemporary, ranging from Lord Byron in the early nineteenth century to Jhumpa Lahiri in the present day.
