  • POWER UPDATE: 28-10-2024 Last night’s heavy winds and thunderstorms has further compromised our electricity network, mainly within the Manzini-Mbabane corridor. We have 5,800 reported faults countrywide. Stonehenge (Mbabane) was the most affected with 1667 faults, while Manzini has recorded 1257. Matsapha (831) and Elangeni (581) were also hard hit. EEC is working around the clock to restore power in all affected areas. Customers are advised that there may be delayed restoration in some areas due to the extent of the damage. The public is warned not to come into contact with fallen powerlines but report them to EEC. We appeal for your patience as we work to normalize the situation.

  • Yesterday, the Central Bank of Eswatini launched the Bank Supervision Application (BSA) Version 5.0 designed to meet the emerging complexities of modern banking, among many other objectives. The Governor, Dr. Phil Mnisi said the launch of the newest version was a testament to the Bank’s dedication to technological innovation and regulatory excellence. He shared that the journey with the Banking Supervision Application began in 1997, in partnership with various Central Banks across Africa. Since the launch of Version 1 in 2003, the BSA has continuously evolved, with significant improvements culminating in the release of Version 4.0 in 2018. “Today, we are proud to unveil Version 5.0, a remarkable milestone for a system that now serves 21-member Central Banks across Africa, Asia, and America,” he said. He noted that this upgraded version was more advanced and more agile, designed to meet the emerging complexities of modern banking, adding that it reflected the dynamic nature of the financial landscape and the Bank’s proactive approach to addressing and supporting innovation as well as the challenges faced by financial institutions. “The banking sector is the backbone of our economy, and its soundness directly impacts our nation's prosperity. As the world evolves, so too must our regulatory tools. We are living in an era where technology is reshaping the way banking services are delivered, and the need for data-driven supervisory oversight has never been more critical,” he said. #MyCBE #BSAV5Launch #BankSupervision
