    CS4134-Computational Oncology: Quantum Approaches to Cancer Treatment Quantum Approximation Optimization Algorithm use case in curing Pancreatic cancer and Glioblastoma. Quantum Approximation Optimization Algorithm is a hybrid quantum-classical algorithm that leverages the principles of quantum mechanics to solve combinatorial optimization problems more efficiently than classical algorithms can. It is designed to operate on a quantum computer and utilizes a variational technique to approximate the solution to optimization problems. The algorithm consists of a sequence of unitary transformations applied to an initial quantum state, typically the equal superposition of all possible states, which is prepared using Hadamard gates (denoted as 'H' in the diagram). This state represents all possible solutions to the problem. The unitary transformations are parameterized by two sets of parameters, � γ (gamma) and � β (beta), which correspond to the problem Hamiltonian (denoted by � C in yellow) and the mixing Hamiltonian (denoted by � B in green), respectively. The problem Hamiltonian encodes the cost function of the optimization problem, and the mixing Hamiltonian promotes exploration within the solution space. In the iterative process, a classical optimizer adjusts the parameters � γ and � β to minimize the expectation value of the cost function, which is analogous to the energy of the system. The optimization loop continues until the parameters converge to values that produce a quantum state close to the ground state of the problem Hamiltonian.
