Using the Wisdom of the Crowd to develop a new operating model Blueprint at the intersection between the home and health
About us
The impact of the home environment on health and wellbeing is now widely recognised - prompting our ‘Healthy Homes’ initiative. This is a complex, multi stakeholder task where the crux of the challenge focusses on the how to. We have created a diverse stakeholder collaborative working with selected local community partners. Their role is to develop a working definition what a Healthy Home actually is. Then subsequently to create a comprehensive Blueprint for an Operating Model to make implementation possible. Success will be evident through greater community satisfaction that homes are not only safe, comfortable and affordable but also contribute to their overall health and wellbeing.

Our Healthy Homes Project is founded on the recognition of the relationship between our home environment and our health. A relationships that goes beyond recognition to requiring systemic management of the interacting activity. If either is left to chance then the risks of unintended consequences will occur.

👍🏻 our The Healthy Homes Project approach is founded on the recognition that all ‘wicked challenges’ involve a multiplicity of stakeholders… Stakeholders that impact, or are impacted by, the situation. Stakeholders that as yet do not recognise they are impacted by the situation. Stakeholders that as yet are not involved but which could have an impact on the situation… We described our stakeholders into four primary cohorts… System - Statutory bodies such as the NHS, Local Authorities, Public Health. Arms Length bodies such as Registeted Providers of social housing. Self appointed bodies such as charities and the VCSE sector. Customer - Citizens and the communities in which they live; those most directly impacted by the situation. Industry - Companies of all sizes whose products and services have a part to play. Research - Academia and ‘Think Tanks’ whose prior research knowledge is invaluable is to not only understanding the challenge in the first place, but evaluating the impact of any actions taken. The journey starts with gathering their respective perspectives on the challenge which by definition are definition. Only once all perspectives are gathered and assimilated into a Common Purpose, a common understanding of the challenge can that Common Purpose start to be translated into an outcome that meets the needs of everyone; we can only overcome complex challenges if everyone benefits from the outcome!
Wicked problem? How collaboration can help tackle it 🤝 A key takeaway from our Leadership Day reinforced by Professor Keith Grint insights, was clear. To make an even greater impact for our customers and communities, we must involve not only ourselves but also people from other sectors, our customers, and the wider community. Real change happens when we work together, across boundaries, to create lasting, positive impact. If we can do this, we should. #Collaboration #CommunityBuilding #UKHousing Paul Taylor Stephanie Foster Emma Hopkinson-Spark Sujahn Barhey Leo Awadzi Saoirse Fearn Nora Ragze

Absolutely agree Chris Jones … There is a growing recognition of the relationship between our health and our housing. Referring to your timely picture, a relationship first formally recognised in 1919 through the https://lnkd.in/eCDTCNZW but just recognition, even as it translates in this initiative, is not enough. The management of our health must be systemically managed with our housing. We cannot just leave to chance that if we make our homes ‘healthier’ it will make us healthier, some actions, taken in isolation, can have unintended consequences! Technology; sensors, can underpin that. There is a huge opportunity to explore how sensor technologies that are currently being used to manage our health, and sensor technologies that are currently being used to manage our homes to be work together.
"Living conditions to be added to NHS records" Interesting BBC News article in the link below. Hopefully they have sensor data. Perfect for this and in my opinion will be a standard part of society in the future. https://lnkd.in/eNdfAk_6 Also, by chance, I snapped the below photo in the London Science Museum earlier (visiting for my 9 year old daughter's birthday 🤓). Seems like we've remembered some old knowledge. Healthier times are coming. Aico HomeLINK
