Etsy is committed to advancing positive change, in our marketplace and in our communities.  🌟 Every year at Etsy, employees come together for “Summer of Service:” a series of volunteer events focused on connecting with and supporting our communities. Etsyians across the globe gave back to their communities by: 🌱 Tending to the garden beds at Crown Heights park in New York City by removing invasive plants, spreading mulch, and painting the park fixtures.  💌 Helping pack meals for those in need at locations across the country like; Washington D.C, Seattle, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Denver!  🤝 Helping plant 100+ trees to areas impacted by forest fires with Bosque Urbano in Guadalajara, Mexico 🧡 Meeting virtually to craft cards for LGTBTQ+ elders with the organization, Letters to SAGE. Thanks to everyone who helped make this Summer of Service a success!

Etsy is proud to leverage our voice to help ensure that small, creative entrepreneurs have a seat at the table with the policymakers who represent them. Etsy CEO Josh Silverman and CLO Colin Stretch hosted a meet-and-greet between some of our sellers and New York State elected officials at Etsy’s Brooklyn HQ to talk about ways to support small business in New York, including the importance of affordable and accessible childcare for entrepreneurs. Huge thanks to State Senators Andrew Gounardes, Jessica Scarcella Spanton, and Iwen Chu, Assemblymember Grace Lee and their staff, and team members from the offices of Assemblymembers Brian Cunningham and Jo Anne Simon, plus Brooklyn-based sellers Zeynep & Erdem and Rachel for joining us in this conversation.

In Etsy’s latest ad campaign – and here on LinkedIn – we’re celebrating and spotlighting our incredible sellers. That includes designer and vintage expert Halima Garrett, owner of Etsy shop Threads of Habit, who sources local vintage pieces and fabrics and upcycles them into gorgeous modern apparel. A few fun facts about her: 🧵Halima started her shop as an outlet for her thrifting hobby, before growing it into a design business ♻️She’s passionate about vintage fabric because it’s high quality and more sustainable – and the prints are one of a kind! 💖Her grandmother owned a thrift store in Brooklyn, igniting Halima’s own interest in vintage clothing “Everything comes from my vision, from sourcing the fabrics to sewing, designing, styling – it’s really a creative process that I enjoy,” Halima shared. “Whether they are vintage or upcycled, these are one of a kind pieces, and I hope that translates to my customer.” Click the link to learn more about Halima’s journey to become an entrepreneur on Etsy: etsy.me/4eeDfSA

We’re making it even easier to find the best of the best on Etsy. 🔎 With over 100 million items on the Etsy marketplace that don’t map back to a catalog or SKU, it’s essential that our teams find innovative ways to surface relevant, high-quality items for shoppers. We recently shared that Etsy is now factoring the quality of a listing into where it shows up in search results and recommendations – including key factors like listing detail, photo quality, customer service track record and more. We’ve also improved the variety of listings we’re serving up in search results, giving more sellers visibility while helping buyers discover great items, even when they’re not sure what they’re looking for. And, we’re providing sellers with tools that give them more actionable insights than ever before to help them improve their visibility on our platform and chart their path to success on Etsy. For more on how we’re elevating the best items Etsy sellers have to offer, check out our latest news blog: https://etsy.me/quality

At Etsy, we know there’s so much value in hearing firsthand from our seller community about their business journeys and how Etsy can help them grow. 🌱 One way we’re doing this? Connecting face-to-face with sellers. Etsy VP Chirag Patel joined a meet-up of the Etsy seller community in Brighton, UK. During their regularly scheduled time to connect, sellers shared their insights and experiences selling on Etsy. Some of the makers in the Brighton community have run their businesses on Etsy for more than a decade! 🧡 We’re so grateful to the Brighton seller community for opening their meeting to Chirag and sharing their valuable perspectives. We’re excited to see more of our Etsy community IRL in the future!

We’re always working to deliver for our sellers – from crafting a marketplace that helps buyers discover their unique items, to nurturing a community of fellow creative entrepreneurs that can help them grow. We recently welcomed Etsy seller Melanie Abrantes, who crafts wooden and cork home goods, to Etsy’s HQ in Brooklyn. Melanie joined members of the Etsy Community team to connect and share insights into how she’s grown her business on Etsy and, of course, capture some content before heading off to teach a wood carving workshop in Brooklyn. Check out some photos of her visit and her work below! Thanks so much for stopping by, Melanie!

🔎 Etsy’s teams are constantly innovating to deliver more relevant search results to buyers and help them discover the perfect item. One of the tools our engineers leverage is computer vision to create experiences like visual search and visually similar recommendations. These offer buyers additional paths to find what they’re looking for, powered by machine learning models that encode images as vector representations. How cool is that?! Dive into Etsy’s Code as Craft blog to hear how some of our engineers tackled the complexities of developing a novel evaluation framework with generative AI, bridging the gap between text queries and image retrieval. The magic of Etsy is created by the real people behind every purchase. We’ve been shouting it from the rooftops – and posting it on the side of buildings. Here on LinkedIn, we’re introducing you to the makers behind the billboards. Meet Juliana Pache, jewelry maker and owner of Pache Studio: 🖐️Juliana handcrafts colorful, unique earrings from polymer clay 🗽She’s is a native New Yorker, and creates all of her jewelry at her home in Brooklyn 🎨The colors and patterns of Juliana’s jewelry are inspired by her Caribbean heritage  “To me, Keeping Commerce Human means using my own two hands, thinking about the person who’s going to receive what I'm creating,” Juliana shared. “[It means] thinking about what it means to be a human being creating something for somebody else.” Watch below for Juliana’s reaction the first time she saw the finished advertisement featuring her and her shop.
