These inspiring entrepreneurs spoke with our senior leadership team during a panel conversation moderated by Veronica (Vero) Heino, who leads our Corporate Affairs and Community team at Etsy. At Etsy, code isn’t just what makes our platform work. It’s a means for connection, collaboration and learning. Etsy engineers in Mexico City invited fellow programmers and coding enthusiasts to Etsy’s CDMX office for an evening of thoughtful discussion and knowledge sharing on the Scala programming language and functional programming techniques. Scala and functional programming enable Etsy to deploy cutting edge machine learning technology that helps surface our sellers’ amazing items to buyers looking for something special. The event was part of a monthly series of meet-ups to bring together Mexico City’s programming community around interesting tech topics. We love to see our teams come together to develop new skills and connect with the community!

Etsyians across the globe gave back to their communities by: 🌱 Tending to the garden beds at Crown Heights park in New York City by removing invasive plants, spreading mulch, and painting the park fixtures.  💌 Helping pack meals for those in need at locations across the country like; Washington D.C, Seattle, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Denver!  🤝 Helping plant 100+ trees to areas impacted by forest fires with Bosque Urbano in Guadalajara, Mexico 🧡 Meeting virtually to craft cards for LGTBTQ+ elders with the organization, Letters to SAGE. Etsy CEO Josh Silverman and CLO Colin Stretch hosted a meet-and-greet between some of our sellers and New York State elected officials at Etsy’s Brooklyn HQ to talk about ways to support small business in New York, including the importance of affordable and accessible childcare for entrepreneurs. In Etsy’s latest ad campaign – and here on LinkedIn – we’re celebrating and spotlighting our incredible sellers. That includes designer and vintage expert Halima Garrett, owner of Etsy shop Threads of Habit, who sources local vintage pieces and fabrics and upcycles them into gorgeous modern apparel.
