Career Catalyst connects Pell Grant and first-generation students from any university within the Texas LaunchPad Network to paid internships - $20/hr or more - in innovative and entrepreneurial companies such as: startups, corporate innovation, accelerators and incubators, lean nonprofits, venture capital, and investment firms. Selected participants gain access to: 👉 Career Readiness Support: Resume development, innovation skills workshops, and entrepreneurial mindset programming to enhance their career readiness. 👉 Job Opportunities: Access to open paid positions, regularly shared job listings, and sometimes direct matching with employers. 👉 Competitive Compensation: If placed, participants receive a minimum of $20/hour, paid directly by the employer or subsidized by the program. Positions can be in-person, virtual, or hybrid. 👉 Hands-on Experience: Practical learning within startups, early-stage nonprofits, investment firms, accelerators, and more. One application gives you three tracks for securing a paid internship: 🚀 Track I - Student Sourced: Students can independently apply for and accept internships while participating in career readiness programming. If their position pays less than $20/hr, Career Catalyst will subsidize wages up to $20/hr, with a maximum of $3,500 per student per calendar year. 🚀 Track II - LaunchPad Sourced: The LaunchPad team provides regular internship listings from partner employers. Students can apply directly for these roles and receive wage subsidization for positions paying less than $20/hr. 🚀 Track III - Direct Matching: Some partner employers request direct access to student resumes. For these employers, LaunchPad staff will match students to specific roles based on experience, major, and goals, providing application information directly. These tracks are designed to maximize placement opportunities and access to paid roles. Participants can engage in multiple tracks and receive wage subsidization for more than one role, up to the annual cap of $3,500 per student. *Rolling applications for the Spring and Summer 2025 internships open now through December 6. I absolutely cannot wait for the 16th (!!!) annual Decision Day for SEAL – Student Entrepreneur Acceleration & Launch. SEAL is the "last stop" for UT startups (undergrad, advanced, faculty, and recent alumni) before "graduating" from the 40 Acres. SEAL alumni have raised $200M+ in investments and generated $500M+ in valuation. Barrett Ann Pearce, MSTC, Vishal Porwal, and Shannon Lundquist have done a phenomenal job of serving the 2025 cohort over the last 9 weeks. Join us as they announce their go, pivot, or no-go decisions. (All decisions are celebrated if they're in alignment with the team's personal and professional goals and market realities.) See you at Capital Factory on Tuesday, August 6th, if you can can make it in-person! If not, please join us virtually via the livestream. See you there. RVSP: https://lu.ma/bym7sv1h

We were fortunate to hear from local entrepreneurs, inventors, venture capitalists, and intellectual property experts, including: Andrei Iancu: Co-Chair, Council for Innovation Promotion (C4IP); Partner, Sullivan & Cromwell; Former Director, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Brandon D. Reynolds: Director, ETX Launchpad at UT Tyler Scott Martinez, CEcD: President and CEO, Tyler Economic Development Council; CEO, Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Phil Burks: Founder and CEO, Burks GenCore Co., Inc. Wayne Mansfield: President and CEO, Longview Economic Development Corporation. Jay Davis: Executive Director of Financial and Entrepreneurship Engagement at Texas A&M – Texarkana. 💡 "Predictable, reliable, and meaningfully enforceable IP rights are critical to ensure a thriving innovation economy. I look forward to discussing the continued development of East Texas into a leading innovation and IP hub," said Andrei Iancu, former USPTO Director and Co-Chair of C4IP. 🎓 "UT Tyler is committed to encouraging entrepreneurship within our academic community," said Kirk A. Calhoun, MD, FACP, President of UT Tyler. "Our ETX Launchpad program relies on IP rights to bolster the incentives for high-impact research, public-private partnership, and beneficial technology commercialization." 🚀 We continue to support local efforts to position East Texas as a Renowned Innovation and Intellectual Property Hub.
