The Wedgewood Apartments are part of the revival of a neighborhood in Lewiston, Maine. Lewiston Housing and Avesta Housing are developing the apartments which includes the rehab and reuse of the historic Wedgewood House and the new construction of 82 affordable homes across nine buildings, including walk-ups, townhomes, and duplexes on Pierce, Pine, and Bartlett streets. Rental housing in NH remains elusive – and expensive! Only 13% of two-bedroom units in New Hampshire are affordable, according to the latest Residential Rental Cost Survey published recently by New Hampshire Housing. A new law introduced by State Rep. Ellen Read aims to help reduce the often onerous fees associated with rental housing.
