Generative AI = A CISOs greatest weapon and the biggest threat The AI arms race is on. Security Leaders utilize AI to: ➔ Detect anomalies in milliseconds ➔ Predict and prevent attacks before they happen ➔ Automate responses to threats in real-time Meanwhile, Attackers harness AI for: ➔ Crafting hyper-personalized phishing emails ➔ Developing adaptive malware that evades detection ➔ Cracking passwords at unprecedented speeds Defenders and attackers have to constantly innovate and adapt. However, the lack of established best practices in this rapidly evolving field leaves organizations vulnerable, and the looming specter of upcoming regulations adds another layer of complexity to AI initiatives. CISOs face the daunting task of staying one step ahead of increasingly sophisticated bad actors while navigating uncharted regulatory waters. Consider these questions as you rethink defense strategies: 1. How are you bridging the maturity gap in AI-powered security tools? 2. What strategies are you implementing to detect and counteract AI-enhanced attacks? 3. How are you governing the use of AI within your organizations to mitigate shadow AI risks? 4. What steps can you take to ensure our AI initiatives are resilient and compliant with upcoming regulations? Gen AI is revolutionizing AI systems. See below for Gartner's take on how it's impacting defense, attacks, consumption, and development 👇 Fellow CISOs and security leaders: How is your organization navigating the challenges of Generative AI in cybersecurity? #GenerativeAI #Cybersecurity #CISO #AIStrategy Source: Gartner Research Want more insights on cybersecurity? Evolution Cyber Security TV went to the Hamptons for a deep dive into Human Risk Management (HMR). How worried should chief information security officers and cybersecurity teams be about AI-powered phishing attacks, social engineering attacks, and cybercrime? It depends on how prepared they are. Oz Alashe MBE, Founder and CEO at CybSafe, and Keith Stewart, stealth company founder and cyber defense expert, joined us for a revealing discussion on a critically important topic for CISOs and security leaders. #DefendandProtect, #Cybersecurity, #EvolutionPortfolio Evolution Equity Partners, Steve Morgan https://lnkd.in/e77d4bXN

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released the 2025 Homeland Threat Assessment (HTA) to inform the public and its partners about expected national security and public safety threats, anticipating that the threat environment will "remain high" in 2025. The report aims to help federal, state, and local agencies prepare for evolving threats, highlighting risks to critical infrastructure from domestic and foreign actors, economic espionage, and the illicit acquisition of technologies. The assessment also addresses concerns like public safety, immigration security, influence operations, and illegal drugs. DHS has expanded information-sharing agreements with international partners and focused efforts on combating illicit fentanyl. Additionally, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) conducted over 1,000 physical security assessments and 700 cyber evaluations in 2023. https://lnkd.in/eRAmjRPH

Evolution Equity Partners is honored to partner with the Office of the National Cyber Director, The White House for a conversation on Memory Safe Languages & Software Measurability. We are a strong advocate for the principles set out in The "Back to the Building Blocks" paper that we highly recommend reading: https://lnkd.in/dHa4dxBH Evolution Equity Partners together with boldstart ventures gathered their respective portfolio companies for this event lead by Anjana Rajan, Assistant National Cyber Director at the White House (who has led the efforts educating the market on this topic) , Richard Seewald, Founder & Managing Partner, Evolution, Taher Elgamal, Partner, Evolution, Ed Sim, Founder & Managing Partner, Boldstart, Eliot Durbin, Partner, Boldstart, and Ernest Addison, Associate, Boldstart. A special thanks to Kathleen Byrne and Will Sim for creating this event. The Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) published a technical report entitled “Back to the Building Blocks: A Path Toward Secure and Measurable Software.” The report builds upon the President’s National Cybersecurity Strategy in describing the urgent need to address undiscovered vulnerabilities that malicious actors can exploit. The report outlines two strategic approaches to achieve this goal: 💠 Reduce the attack surface in cyberspace that our adversaries can exploit by preventing entire classes of vulnerabilities from entering the digital ecosystem and 💠 Anticipate systemic security risk by developing better diagnostics that measure cybersecurity quality. #defendandprotect, #cybersecurity #evolutionportfolio
