We heard from a former student recently. "I ... want to thank you for introducing me to coding and technology. It is because of you that I developed this great interest and passion. And it is because of you that I am a part of [this internship program]. It is a great opportunity, and I hope you have other students that will take advantage of it as well." We haven't been doing what we do long enough to have a lot of graduates, but we made a difference for this student. He attended a small private high school in a lower socio-economic area. We helped to give him some foundational skills in computer programming and electronics, but more importantly, we gave him the confidence that he could pursue a technical career. Outside of academic and professional settings, we often break the grammar rules of our language. Computer programming provides us with an environment where the rules matter.
