It's worth noting that the ErgoSantes LEA team employed the RULA ergonomic assessment tool to analyze the results. RULA, or Rapid Upper Limb Assessment, is an established methodology for evaluating ergonomic risks associated with musculoskeletal disorders. By utilizing this tool, LEA assigns scores based on various body postures and movements. The results demonstrate that using ExoBak led to significantly lower RULA scores. Congrats to Hines College alum Mohammadmehdi Mortazavi ('22) on winning first place in the Innovation Category from the City of Houston Liftoff Business Plan Competition! 🎉 Mohammadmehdi, a graduate of the industrial design program, started designing ExoBak as a student. The product is an exoskeleton designed to help provide support for jobs that require heavy lifting and prevent back pain. It's features include thigh straps and bands to help correct posture and prevent back pain. 💡 Now, he's founded ExoBraced and won $10,000 in prize money in the Liftoff Business Plan Competition to take his business further. First day of testing the EXOBAK exoskeletons from our American partner, EXOBRACED, in collaboration with the IUP Health Engineering at the University of Picardie Jules Verne, involving master's students in Rehabilitation Engineering, Disability, and Motor Performance (IRHPM). Two workshops have been set up. The first one uses the CAPTIV solution, which maximizes the ergonomics of workstations by identifying musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) objectively, quickly, and efficiently. Postural analysis, coupled with the collection of heart rate and muscle activity, allows for a comprehensive mapping. The second workshop utilizes the Metamax 3B-R2 device, measuring oxygen consumption and recording heart rate.
