The Fabled Films Press team (Nicole Wheeler, Sam Sicignano, Trinity Pelina) had some incredible events with Erin Yun, author of Pippa Park Raises Her Game in New Jersey! Readers at HARRINGTON PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT learned how to create their own stories thanks to Erin's Create Your Own Character Writing Workshop. We finally got to meet Kimberly Weber IRL: the incredible teacher who got the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) HIPP Foundation grant that funded this incredible Harrington Park visit. Afterward, we stopped by the amazing Books & Greetings Bookstore in Northvale and chatted with Kenny Sarfin, who helped us get books to the event. The fun continued at Secaucus Public Library at their Multicultural Book Festival, organized by the amazing Events & Community Outreach Coordinator, Lee Penna! Erin met with other diverse authors (including Geshu Sugandh) and taught even more students how to develop their own characters with her writing workshop. See you again soon, NJ!

Last Saturday’s family workshop “Reading Aloud with Children” to promote literacy had such a great turnout! Big thank you to our special guest Tracey Hecht, The Nocturnals author, who led the interactive workshop and shared insights on how to make reading with your child fun. The workshop covered practical tips and tricks to engage your child through reading fiction or nonfiction together and the strength of reading with your child in multiple languages. The amazing Teen Librarian Marla Martin transformed the Woodbury Public Library in Connecticut into Pippa Park's bedroom, the main character in our bestselling middle grade Pippa Park book series! Fabled Films Press had an amazing time at American Booksellers Association Children's Institute in New Orleans this year! We enjoyed attending the opening keynote, "Communities of Care: A Conversation about Bookselling, Caregiving and Raising Readers." Author Meg Medina and Brein Lopez of Children's Book World discussed the influence that books can have on a child's life, how booksellers can function as caregivers to young readers, and how books are an essential part of building community within classrooms and the home. We were inspired by the Spotlight on Black Publishing Panel moderated by Britt Camacho! Cheryl Hudson of Just Us Books and author Kwame Mbalia shared insights on the importance of children being able to see themselves represented in the books they read, as well as the growth of BIPOC books as a form of marketable entertainment for kids. Exciting things are happening for Fabled Films Press & The Nocturnals with our school programs: author Tracey Hecht kicked off summer reading with a visit to Chester Elementary (& Read to Them) who’ll be reading The Mysterious Abductions! We also ended a great school year with Christ Lutheran School where Mrs. Jill Kusel's class drew their favorite nocturnal animals after reading the nonfiction book Nighttime Animals: Awesome Features & Surprising Adaptations. Congratulation to Felicia Lott and Secaucus Public Schools on their first All School Read, and thank you for choosing The Nocturnals! This February, students and families across 3 district schools read The Nocturnals together, culminating with an extra special Family Literacy Night Event with author Tracey Hecht. Special shoutout to Mayor Michael Gonnelli Town Of Secaucus for helping make this happen and Secaucus Public Library for introducing The Nocturnals to Secaucus readers!

Pippa Park author Erin Yun Szczechowski visited New York schools for some EXTRA special events. Thank you to those who made it all happen! Erin visited TRANSFIGURATION CATHOLIC SCHOOL, where she did her first author visit ever, Ethical Culture Fieldston School, as part of their Book Fair Week celebrations, Great Neck Public Schools with friends from Great Neck Library, and (Not Pictured) her first visit to The Spence School, whose fourth grade reads Pippa Park Raises Her Game every year.

Author Erin Yun inspires 5th and 6th graders to write their own retellings! In her author workshop, Erin shares how she reimagined Charles Dickens's Great Expectations into Pippa Park Raises Her Game using her own personal lens.
