Is anyone else following the Starbucks saga? On November 1, 2024, an Administrative Law Judge ruled that Starbucks violated labor laws by withholding a weekly pay benefit from unionized and unionizing stores while implementing it at nonunion locations. Now, they’re required to offer that benefit to all employees and compensate those who missed out. Nope, they can not just stop paying everyone this benefit! What are your thoughts on this ruling? I’m curious how many of my HR friends would have advised against this decision to pay only nonunion stores. This decision practically invited unnecessary scrutiny, and legal fees not to mention the damage to Starbucks's reputation. Who's working in HR at Starbucks? Did the decision-makers seek HR's input? I have so many questions. Literally can’t make this stuff up! Does this case change the way you think about handling union vs. nonunion employee benefits? #LaborRights #HRInsights #Starbucks #HRCompliance #Ethics #Intergrity

🌱How do you address an employee who's missed important deadlines?🌱 💡✨Navigating workplace challenges doesn’t have to be tense or uncomfortable. ✨💡 🟣Lead with curiosity with a focus on understanding the root cause; asking questions and gathering information. 🟣Use neutral language and stick to the situation, not the person, avoiding the potential for a defensive response. 🟣Collaboratively discuss short-term solutions to address the immediate needs, then tackle long-term adjustments as necessary at a later time. 🟣 Choosing the right setting really does set the tone; One-on-one discussions are often more effective. ✅ PRO TIP: Consider having the conversation in a neutral setting, such as taking a walk outside, rather than in your office or theirs. As an experienced employee relations strategist, I can tell you that this approach often leads to better outcomes. Reducing anxiety and easing the pressure of location can help create psychological safety, making the discussion more productive. 🟣Find the balance between clear & direct with empathy to establish expectations while showing understanding. 🟣Don't forget to follow up! These check-ins show your commitment to the employee's success and help keep progress on track. 🌱A little thoughtfulness can go a long way in creating a supportive and productive work environment! #Leadership #EmployeeRelations #WorkplaceWellness #HRStrategy #ConflictResolution #EmployeeSuccess
