About us
Our vision is for the global facial difference community to live freely, without indignity or discrimination. In order to achieve our vision, our mission is to position face equality as a social justice movement. As a growing Alliance of international NGOs, our collective actions focus on: - Advocating for disfigurement to be recognised as an independent equality and human rights issue, so that the rights and protections of those with facial differences are not limited to disability laws and spaces. - Eliminating the life-limiting stigma and prejudice associated with facial difference and disfigurement through education and community-building. - Growing and amplifying an inclusive, empowered community of organisations and individuals devoted to campaigning for face equality. - Campaigning for an equitable society, ensuring people with facial differences have freedom and choice to be seen and heard on their own terms.

Halloween is coming up and this time of year can be tricky for people with facial differences. During October, films portraying with villains are more prevalent on our screens. Characters often have makeup replicating scars, burns or other visible differences, which are used as a visual shorthand for evil. In her new blog, Tess Buckley explains why the stereotype of the scarred villain is problematic and harmful: https://lnkd.in/eG9XkB95 ID: Tess, a Caucasian woman with long, wavy brown hair and a facial difference, smiles at the camera. She wears a red button down shirt and stands outside, with a building behind her. On the bottom middle is a yellow paint brush stroke with black text on top. #FaceEquality #FacialDifference #VisibleDifferences #Halloween #Villains #DearHollywood #EntertainmentIndustry #Prosthetics #Scars
