Last Saturday, we held a cleanup with the current Colgate University lacrosse team, picking up a ton of trash at Ferry Point Park. At the end of the cleanup, we gave every player a pair of Clark Anchors and told his story. You can read a little bit more about Clark below, who was a fellow Colgate lacrosse alumni and former Fair Harbor intern.
----
"Clark was a fellow goalie on the Colgate mens lacrosse team - he was two years younger than me and one of my best friends in the world. His lifelong dream was to become a Marine, and he pursued that dream by attending OCS between semesters. One summer, we were fortunate enough to have him intern with Fair Harbor, and I’ll never forget those days. We surfed together, worked trunk shows side by side, and built a lot of the foundation that Fair Harbor still stands for today.
Tragically, three years ago, Clark passed away in a surfing accident. He was truly the best of us, and losing him so soon was devastating. To honor his memory, we worked with his family to create the Clark Anchors—which were inspired by Clark using colors from his eyes. It’s a small way to carry forward his memory and share his story with others.
Though none of the players on the current Colgate team had the chance to meet or play with Clark, they wear his initials, CP, on their helmets. It was a profound honor for me to share his story and give each player a pair of Clark Anchors in his memory.
What made Clark so special was his infectious love of life and the energy he brought to everything he did. He had a way of making everyone feel like his best friend, and we carry that energy with us every day at Fair Harbor." -Jake Danehy (CEO and Co-Founder of Fair Harbor)
