A special thanks to Jaime Medina Yrhuay, last year’s Pyramid Award winner for Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee, for shining brightly in the Falls Church HS community. #FCPSTeacherTuesday "I joined the education field because of my passion to work with our future. Nothing is more rewarding than having former students contact you to let you know that they are doing well and they are college bound. The relationships you build with students hold more value than grades. A great leader and mentor once told me “Connection over Content” is the primary driving factor of our work, without connecting to students, and ensuring their safety, no amount of teaching will have an impact on the students' learning. I hold to that, even today after 18 years in the profession." #FCPSTeacherTuesday "I wanted to become a teacher because the teachers I had growing up made such an amazing difference in my educational career that it made me want to be like them. When I was in high school, I started working at a learning center and it was a great experience seeing the growth each child would make over time. I chose FCPS because this is where I grew up. I went to Louise Archer, Thoreau, and JMHS. So I knew I wanted to come back to this wonderful community and be a part of a new generation's learning path." #FCPSTeacherTuesday "I have always wanted to join the teaching profession because I've always felt a deep calling to help all families feel connected to their child's school. It’s important to me that every family, regardless of language, feels included and engaged in their child’s education. Being bilingual has allowed me to bridge the gap for many Hispanic families, fostering stronger connections and a more inclusive school community. I’m proud to play a part in making our school a welcoming place for everyone."
