About us

In 1930 a town ordinance established the Police Department consisting of seven officers. Today the sworn and non-sworn staff of the department number about 230 employees. For the men and women of the police department our mission hasn’t changed much since the 1930’s. Quite simply, we exist to make Fairfield safer, we always have and always will. We are committed to our mission and remain ever vigilant in our service to the residents and visitors of the Town of Fairfield. Remember though, we can’t do it alone. The Fairfield Police Department currently employs 108 sworn officers, 100 authorized Special Agents, 15 Telecommunicators , 4 Animal Control officers, 7 Marina Guards, 6 full-time and several part-time civilian personnel. The department has is organized into several divisions/bureaus, each performing separate and vital functions within the department.

  • We had a fun filled morning with students and parents during the Bike Bus to Riverfield Elementary School! Our School Safety Unit and several members of the Bicycle Unit were present to join the ride and ensure everyone’s safety. Fairfield First Selectman Bill Gerber also joined in, and we were thrilled to see so many smiling faces biking to school. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this event a success!

  • Welcome Officer Seth Dyess! Yesterday, Seth Dyess was officially sworn in as Fairfield’s newest police officer. He will begin his training tomorrow at the Connecticut Police Academy, where he will reside while completing his initial training requirements. Upon returning to Fairfield, Officer Dyess will participate in our Field Training and Evaluation Program, working closely with an experienced officer to ensure he is well-prepared for solo patrol and ready to serve our community. We look forward to seeing his contributions to Fairfield and wish him the best of luck at the Academy!

Chief Kalamaras was recognized alongside Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter and New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson for their outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to public safety. This award highlights their commitment to fostering safer communities and innovative policing strategies. Joined by his family, Command Staff, and esteemed guests, Chief Kalamaras was celebrated for his exemplary service to the Town of Fairfield. Congratulations Chief!

  • MULTIPLE ARRESTS FOLLOW SMOKE SHOP INSPECTIONS IN FAIRFIELD; ILLEGAL THC PRODUCTS SEIZED Fairfield, CT — On September 25, 2024, the Fairfield Police Department Detective Division, in collaboration with multiple state agencies, conducted a series of inspections at local smoke shops in the town of Fairfield. These inspections, conducted in partnership with the Department of Consumer Protection, Department of Mental Health Services, Department of Labor, and Department of Revenue Services, uncovered a significant quantity of illegal THC products, including vape pens, edibles, pre-rolls, and marijuana. The Fairfield Police Department's Quality of Life Unit seized the illegal contraband, and investigations into these businesses are ongoing. The following establishments were inspected: 1) Issam Plus, 92 Post Road 2) Mohegan Smoke Shop, 525 Tunxis Hill Cutoff 3) World Smoke and Cigar Shop, 95 Reef Road As a result of these inspections, the Fairfield Police Department arrested the following individuals: 1) Vivekanand Harilall (DOB 8/7/1988), employee at World Smoke and Cigar Shop 2) Issam Madineh (DOB 6/25/1970), owner of Issam Plus 3) Tamer Nafaa (DOB 7/25/1974), employee at Issam Plus All three individuals were charged with Sale of a Controlled Substance without a License and Possession of Marijuana Over 8 Ounces with Intent to Sell or Distribute. They were each issued a court appearance date of October 8, 2024, at Bridgeport Superior Court. Further arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues. The Fairfield Police Department extends its sincere gratitude to the public for their continued vigilance and for providing valuable tips and information related to these offenses. The department takes community concerns seriously and is actively working to address illegal activities that affect the safety and quality of life of Fairfield residents. We encourage the public to continue sharing information to help us maintain the well-being of our community. The Fairfield Police Department also thanks the Department of Consumer Protection, the Department of Mental Health Services, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Revenue Services for their collaborative efforts in ensuring that these businesses comply with state regulations.
