On #WorldDiabetesDay we recognize the 422 million people diagnosed with all types of #diabetes worldwide and the 38 million right here in the U.S. With such a high prevalence, diabetes management is critical to maintain good health and wellness, and a key tool for this is a continuous glucose monitor (#CGM). It provides real-time glucose (blood sugar) readouts, making it easier to manage diabetes and improve overall health outcomes. At Families USA, we believe that CGMs should be affordable and readily available to everyone who needs one, especially those on Medicaid. #ICYMI: CMS recently released the 2025 #OPPS final rule, bringing key changes to the #Medicare payment system to drive the delivery of high quality and equitable care. We applaud CMS for 1) establishing national health and safety standards for the first time on the delivery of obstetric services to meet the health needs of moms and babies, 2) enacting new quality measure reporting requirements to ensure hospitals' deliver equitable care, including assessing a patients' health related social needs; and 3) expanding Medicare access to people who were formerly incarcerated. However, we were very disappointed that CMS missed the chance to promote meaningful transparency and healthy competition in the health care system by strengthening hospital price transparency rules and expanding same service same price policies. Every person should know upfront what different hospitals charge, yet too many hospitals are still not compliant; and consumers should pay the same price for the same service regardless of where they get their care. We look forward to continuing to work with CMS on these critical issues to ensure our nation's families have access to the affordable and high value care that they need and deserve. https://lnkd.in/ebG2zzPi
