The DIY intervention is the silent killer… Families think they can do the intervention themselves because family members are falling into dysfunctional family roles. An effective intervention is about a professional helping the family understand the situation they are in, the nature of addiction, dysfunctional family roles, and how the addict and family members can together recover and put in place a process that brings about true healing for everyone involved.

Mission Statement: To provide every family of a loved one with a substance use or mental disorder the opportunity for closure, knowing they did all they could to help themselves and their loved one. Vision Statement: We look forward to the day when the healing of the family is recognized as at least as important as the healing of the loved one with a substance use or mental disorder. Family First Intervention S.A.F.E. Intervention & Family Recovery Coaching program uses a human resources model. In this approach, the team works collaboratively, and each member builds on the strength, knowledge, and motivation of others. We all have different experiences and degrees of education to bring together. No one person can accomplish these goals alone; each member of the team needs the help of others. Our approach is effective in a human services organization where successful outcomes drive the vision. In order to provide families and the substance user with effective solutions, a team approach is necessary. Whether we're staffing your case, doing your assessment, assigning the interventionist, or discussing the delivery of our S.A.F.E. family recovery coaching after the intervention, more than one person is always involved.

As much as we teach you to put yourselves first, you are unable to do that until you detach from the addiction, mental health disorder, and behavior of your loved one. It is okay to be selfish regarding putting yourself first in a healthy way, which helps your loved one. Putting yourself first by clinging to your maladaptive thinking is unacceptable and indeed not helpful. This harms both you and your loved one.
