About us
In the late 1940’s, Elliott Farmer, Sr. created a clear vision in the Ready Mix and Asphalt business with Farmer’s Concrete, Cole County Industries and Jefferson Asphalt. When his sons, Bud and Mike Farmer entered the business world in the early 1970’s they maintained the foundation of family first, a strong work ethic, and that failure was not an option. They continued to grow from that vision through vertical integration and expansion into other complimentary industries. Farmer Companies now employs more than 1700 people. The Farmer Companies’ footprint continues to grow into multiple markets and multiple states under the leadership of the third generation of the Farmer family. Their commitment to the companies’ core values, their employees and their customers presents a clear path forward.

Farmer Companies knows the impact cancer can have on so many lives and believes everyone should have a fighting chance. We were honored to host a Bone Marrow Drive earlier this month. Our teams and our community showed immense support for this cause and we are hopeful we can help someone “Be a Match”. Having the chance to save a life through a selfless donation has such an impact; both on the patient and the donor. Thank you to all the lifesavers who came out!

Farmer Companies' 2024 Safety-Stand Down theme, 'Safety in Our Roots,' perfectly encapsulates our company's history and values. Safety runs deep in our foundation - it's more than just following rules and regulations; it's about ensuring each of our teammates returns home safely to their families every day. When we work safely, we honor the legacy of those who came before us and secure the future for those who will follow. "Safety in our roots reminds us that safe practices aren't new to us. They have been a part of our DNA since the beginning - it's why we are blessed to be operating in the third generation of our family business." - Kirk Farmer, Vice President of Farmer Holding Company As we progress through the construction season, let's remain steadfast in our commitment to safety, ensuring that the roots of Farmer Holding Company continue to grow strong and deep.

Yesterday, our crews proudly participated in Go Orange Day to show their support for #NationalWorkZoneAwarenessWeek. By wearing orange, our crews are standing in solidarity with all those who have been impacted by the tragic loss of life in work zones. This act is a visible demonstration of our commitment to protecting the brave men and women who work tirelessly to maintain and improve our roads! 🚧 American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)
