Yesterday, Farmhouse Rescue had the privilege of attending the Orange County Grantmakers Summit for the first time. The theme, 'Today, Tomorrow, Together,' truly resonated with us, reminding us of the power of collective action. The day started with the energizing sounds of a drum circle, followed by a heartfelt land acknowledgment. The speakers were knowledgeable and inspiring, sharing insights from their fields. It was an incredible opportunity to make meaningful connections, and we're reminded that when we work together, we can achieve so much more! Isn’t it funny how things sometimes happen exactly when you need them to? Here at FarmHouse Rescue, we've been fully immersed in planning our upcoming gala – and if you've ever been through it, you know how all-consuming it can be! But then, out of nowhere, something stops you in your tracks. For us, it was a message from the mother of one of our Smile Box recipients. Alexander is 5 years old and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. His mom shared that, as an animal lover, receiving a Smile Box while in the hospital was the perfect distraction from treatment – she called it the “coolest thing he could have gotten.” This is our why. A productive day on the farm, our hearts are so full!!

What a fantastic morning with the incredible team from the Outreach Committee of the Community Association Institute of Orange County ! 🐓🐑 We kicked things off gently with some quality time meeting and feeding the animals. But soon enough, it was time to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in! The team got down and dirty, helping us move the chickens and clean out the entire coop in preparation for its upcoming rebuild. These amazing humans gave their time and energy today, and we couldn't be more grateful for all their hard work and dedication. ✨ Gratitude Post ✨ Good morning, everyone. I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude. As many of you know, we are based in Trabuco Canyon, near the current wildfire. While we are not under mandatory evacuation at this time (and are praying it stays that way), the fire has now spread to over 8,500 acres. Fortunately, the flames have been moving away from us. We are deeply moved by the outpouring of concern and support we've received from so many people—checking in on us and offering help. Your kindness means the world to us and the farm. Our thoughts go out to those under mandatory evacuation, and our deepest admiration and gratitude go to the brave firefighters risking their lives to keep us all safe.
