Induced AC on pipelines can cause serious issues, including shock hazards for technicians and soil-side corrosion. This occurs when pipelines run near high-power transmission lines, and the AC can be induced either inductively (from electromagnetic fields) or conductively (from direct contact with power systems). Factors like pipeline alignment, power demand and soil resistivity influence the magnitude of induced AC. Learn more about how to manage these risks in Farwest's detailed on page 11 of our ebook, Beneath the Surface: https://lnkd.in/geGknNhq #CorrosionControl #PipelineSafety #AConPipelines #beneathTheSurface

Morph here today representing cathodic protection test stations. These devices are a critically important tool in the proactive monitoring of CP system performance. Test stations allow testing and monitoring as well as access to underground pipelines and other buried structures. Installations consist of various components, such as coupons, reference electrodes, wiring and more to provide system operators with vital information about the integrity and performance of their cathodic protection system If you are not familiar with the Farwest Rapid-Check Test Station, contact a Farwest rep to learn more today! #TestStations #CathodicProtection #CorrosionControl

Understanding metal conductivity is crucial when designing cathodic protection (CP) solutions. Metals like copper, widely used in electrical wiring, have high conductivity, while others, like brass, have lower conductivity due to "impurities" in the alloyed materials. Although silver is more conductive than copper, its high cost limits its use. In CP systems, linear voltage drops across materials like steel must be considered for efficiency. To learn more about how metal conductivity impacts corrosion control, check out page 9 of Farwest’s ebook: https://lnkd.in/geGknNhq #CorrosionControl #MetalConductivity #CathodicProtection

AC mitigation systems are essential to protect pipelines in AC corridors from the effects of induced AC corrosion. Proper AC mitigation strategies help reduce the risk of corrosion and protect infrastructure by managing AC interference through grounding systems, coatings and specialized equipment. These solutions ensure that corrosion prevention remains effective, extending the life of the pipeline and reducing maintenance costs. Contact a Farwest representative about effective AC mitigation strategies. #CorrosionControl #CathodicProtection #ACMitigation
