  • Trailer Interchange Coverage provides physical damage insurance to third-party trailers which are in a motor carrier's possession. This coverage protects against physical damage to trailers while they're being used during business operations, even if the trailers are not owned by the insured. Trailer interchange is the most common with the UIIA (Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement). It is used most often for intermodal operations where the equipment includes both a trailer chassis and container. Trailer interchange does require a “written trailer or equipment interchange agreement”. Coverage typically includes: 1. Physical Damage: It covers damage to the trailer caused by accidents, theft, vandalism, while the trailer is being hauled or in your care. 2. Non-Owned Trailers: The coverage applies to trailers that you don’t own but are using in your business. 3. While in Your Possession: The coverage typically applies while the trailer is in your possession or being used in your operations, but not necessarily while it is parked or in storage. 4. Exclusions: Like all insurance, there are exclusions and conditions. For example, the coverage might not apply to trailers that are leased or rented unless specified in the policy, or it might not cover certain types of damage. _______________________________________ Follow us for more useful safety tips, job opportunities, and the latest transportation updates. ☎️ 708-588-9820 📧 hr@fastactiontrucking.com 🌐 www.fastactiontrucking.com #chicagointermodaltrucking #trucking #transportationservices #truckdrivers #intermodaltransport #drayagecarrier #regional #otr #trailer #trailerinterchange #container

  • In trucking, Operating Authority refers to the legal permission granted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that allows a carrier to transport goods or passengers across state lines for hire. It is essential for for-hire carriers, freight brokers, and freight forwarders. Having operating authority allows a company to conduct interstate commerce and is often referred to as having an MC (Motor Carrier) number. There are different types of operating authority depending on the type of cargo being hauled, such as: - Common Carrier Authority: For transporting goods for the general public. - Contract Carrier Authority: For hauling under specific contracts with shippers. - Broker Authority: For arranging transportation but not actually operating trucks. ___________________________________ Follow us for more useful safety tips, job opportunities, and the latest transportation updates. ☎️ 708-588-9820 📧 hr@fastactiontrucking.com 🌐 www.fastactiontrucking.com #chicagointermodaltrucking #trucking #transportationservices #truckdrivers #intermodaltransport #drayagecarrier #regional #otr #operatingauthority #mcnumber #carrierauthority #brokerauthority

  • Replacing semi-truck tires is crucial for maintaining safety, performance, and fuel efficiency. Maintaining good tire health not only ensures safety but also improves fuel efficiency and overall vehicle performance. In the U.S., the legal minimum tread depth for semi-truck tires is 2/32 of an inch. This applies to all tires on the truck, including those on the drive axle, steering axle, and trailer. However, many safety experts suggest replacing tires when they reach around 4/32 of an inch to ensure better traction and performance, particularly in adverse weather conditions. __________________________________ Follow us for more useful safety tips, job opportunities, and the latest transportation updates. ☎️ 708-588-9820 📧 hr@fastactiontrucking.com 🌐 www.fastactiontrucking.com #chicagointermodaltrucking #trucking #transportationservices #truckdrivers #intermodaltransport #drayagecarrier #regional #otr #treaddepth #tiretread

  • September is a pivotal month in the trucking industry for several reasons, reflecting both seasonal changes and broader industry dynamics: 1. Transition Between Seasons: September marks the transition from summer to fall which affects freight volumes and types, with changes in demand for seasonal goods. 2. Back-to-School Season: The start of the school year makes a significant increase in the movement of school supplies, educational materials, and seasonal clothing. 3. Holiday Preparations: There is an increase in the movement of goods associated with upcoming holidays such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. 4. Economic Indicators: September often serves as an economic indicator for the final quarter of the year. Companies adjust their supply chains and inventory levels based on economic forecasts. 5. Weather Considerations: Weather conditions in September, from increased rainfall to the beginning of early winter weather, in some regions, can affect driving conditions and logistics planning. 6. Freight Rate Adjustments: September can be a time when trucking companies and shippers negotiate rates for the upcoming months, impacting profitability and operational planning. 7. Driver and Equipment Maintenance: As the year progresses, ensuring that trucks are in good condition for potentially harsh weather is a priority. 8. Strategic Planning: Many companies use September to review and adjust their logistics and supply chain strategies in preparation for the end-of-year surge. In summary, September is pivotal in the trucking industry due to its role as a transitional period, the start of significant seasonal demand changes, and its impact on regulatory, economic, and operational aspects of trucking. ___________________________________________ Follow us for more useful safety tips, job opportunities, and the latest transportation updates. ☎️ 708-588-9820 📧 hr@fastactiontrucking.com 🌐 www.fastactiontrucking.com #chicagointermodaltrucking #trucking #transportationservices #truckdrivers #intermodaltransport #drayagecarrier #regional #otr #septemberintrucking #monthoftransition

  • Safeguarding Your Semi: Why Investing in a Deer Guard Makes Sense A deer guard, also known as a deer bumper, is a protective accessory mounted on the front of semi-trucks. Its primary purpose is to reduce the risk of damage and injury caused by collisions with animals, particularly deer, which can be a common hazard on highways. The deer guard typically consists of a metal framework that extends out from the front of the truck. It is designed to deflect the impact of an animal, preventing it from causing severe damage to the vehicle's engine or front end. In addition to protecting the vehicle, it can also help improve safety by minimizing the risk of the driver losing control after a collision. Deer guards can vary in design and construction, but they generally feature heavy-duty steel or aluminum and are built to withstand significant impact. ________________________________ Follow us for more useful safety tips, job opportunities and the latest transportation updates. ☎️ 708-588-9820 📧 hr@fastactiontrucking.com 🌐 www.fastactiontrucking.com #chicagointermodaltrucking #trucking #transportationservices #truckdrivers #intermodaltransport #drayagecarrier #regional #otr #deerguard #deerbumper

  • Prepare your fleet for this year’s Brake Safety Week that takes place from Aug 25-31. For this year’s Brake Safety Week, inspectors will focus on the condition of brake linings and pads. Brake lining and pad issues may result in vehicle violations and could affect a motor carrier’s safety rating. CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct routine commercial motor vehicle inspections throughout the week, focusing on brake systems and components. CMVs found to have brake-related out-of-service violations will be removed from roadways until those violations are corrected.
